She will be best remembered for her 'femme fatale' role in what is probably the best surreal film-noir B-movie ever made - 'Detour' (1945) - which was shot in six days in a Poverty Row studio. As one review puts it - "this film could not be made today, not even for TV, it would require 100% location shooting and special effects". If you want to pay your respects and see one of the great cult low-budget B-movies at the same time, watch 'Detour.' You won't be disappointed. |
