| Posted: | | | | When I watch movies with PowerDVD it shows them in the correct format, e.g 1.78:1, 2.35:1 and so on.
But when I did a screenshot of the Day After Tomorrow movie (and others, too) they are always 720x576 pixels (1.25:1) and I have to reduce the height to 405 to get a 16:9 picture again.
Has anyone a clue why this happens? | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Because all DVDs store their image in the resolution of 720x576 (PAL) and have an extra flag (stored in line 21 I believe) which tells the PC/player to stretch it out to 16x9 (1024x576) or keep it as is for 4x3 programmes. There should be an option in PowerDVD that takes this into account when making screen grabs. |
