And I'm talking specifically about Addicted2DVD and Xyrano.

I've just spent sometime looking in getting episode guides into My Profiler.  Between these two folks and their fine work, I had things up and running in about an hour.  And I just about have my first contribution ready to go.

So, the quick question is, is there a specific format that I need to submit an episode guide in?  I know I need to zip the files, and I should name the main file with the UPC code.  And specific guidance on how to code the html (ie, direct paths vs relative paths)?  Anything I should know before I give this a whirl?

Thanks

Rink

Thanks for the kind words. I (and I am sure Xyrano) appreciate it.

The best thing about html episode guides... there is no limit to how they can be done. Here is a few examples of different styles I do...

Plain banner and text...

Background Image, Banner, Episode Images in a Table

Table, Background Color Banner and episode images...

This style is great for Best Of Sets...

Background style and Banner...

You can even use larger images if you have large windows (which I been playing with lately)...

Basically there is no rule of thumb... just have fun and be creative.

But one thing you can do is if you find a style you like in another EPG... copy the html file and use it as a template.

I personally don't use paths to images... as it will be different for everyone depending on where they keep everything... for images and what not I usually use something like...

<img src="banner.jpg">

and then figure each person will fix it to work

That's great... looking forward to seeing it. Don't worry if you don't see them show up on the page right away sometimes it takes a little bit for them to get through... you won't have to send it in a second time.

Matter of fact I just looked and the one for Runaway I did hasn't come through yet.

It really isn't that hard to do. You can get the HTML window code HERE... as well as instructions on how to use it.

Plus you can get a large selection of Episode Guides HERE.... Currently 1,736 episode guides available for download.

Is it possible to save this as part of a downloadable view? or maybe it being a standard feature?

If you mean it becoming part of the contributed profile for the online database... I don't see that happening. Too many variables.... too many styles that they could be in. You would never get people agreeing on how it should look... if there should be just a banner image... or episode images in a table or what have you... there is endless possibilities when it comes to HTML Episode Guides... so I would hate to see the heated discussions on what belongs online and what belongs local. So I think it is best to just keep it all local as is.
