| Posted: | | | | I've been using DVDProfiler for a long time now and I still love it for all it does. The extensive database is wonderful.
It is exactly such a thing that I've been looking for for my novels, graphic novels and comics. I found a few programs, but they were nowhere near the flexibility level that I'm used to when filing my dvds.
Now I found myself thinking that I'm probably not the only person who's been looking for something like this. And someone might have actually succeeded where I failed.
So there you have it. Does anyone know of a program that can do with books, graphic novels and comics what DVDProfiler does with dvds? |

| Posted: | | | | As I have said to others, I cannot sing the praises of Library Thing high enough. It's a wonderful service. The caveat is that it isn't a program, it's an online service. But it is absolutely wonderful for keeping track of your personal library (you can see mine here) | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | I started a thread about this a bit ago. Library Thing seemed to be the most popular, Comic Base, Readerware and collectorz were among the other suggestions. I'm currently trying out Library Thing myself. I'm finding that although it has a few nice features (very community based), quite a few of my comics either aren't in the system or don't have much data attached (a lot without covers too). I haven't added any books yet so it may be better on that front. |

| Posted: | | | | I have been trying Librarything myself, but I didn't really like it. Although they can download some data from librabries around the world, it seems to me too much based on the US. | | | Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer. |

| Posted: | | | | I still use BookDB2 because I have a number of pre-ISBN books, and LibraryThing is structured around ISBNs, and didn't do what I wanted it to. BookDB2 is far from perfect, but there are workarounds for some things, and for the most part it suits my purposes. Hopefully BookDB3 (currently in beta) will offer some handy functions I've been wishing for. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | I have the collectorz one...while it has almost everything I wanted, the new version (from the fall, 6.0, I believe) will make it VERY hard to deal with anything pre-ISBN, which is about half of my collection. However, it is easy to use and install. I got a cuecat, and was able to just scan in the barcodes for most of the ones that had them.
I kept the old version 5, but I don't think that one is still available. They do have a free trial though...I'm looking for something else, though, if that helps. | | | Lori |

Not only that, but basically it only covers books that are still on sale or were in the last 10 year or so. I tested this, and it covers less than a quarter of my collection (5000 books, 80% British/American). | | | Hans |

| Posted: | | | | You do have the option at LibraryThing of entering any sort of book manually. So, while it isn't as easy as plugging in the ISBN, it does cover any book. That's what I had to do with all of my National Audubon Society Nature Programs. | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |
