| Posted: | | | | I know that PAL and NTSC are different, since PAL is 4% faster. But is it the same between BD and NTSC/PAL too. I compared Die Hard R1vsBD and the times was slightly different. I.E. Die Hard 3 NTSC was 2:08:24 and BD version 2:08:31. Anyone knows? | | | "What's God?" | Posted: | | | | I would imagine that this is due to the different frame rates.
Blu-ray is 24fps, NTSC is about 30 & PAL is 25.
I'm not very technically minded with things like this so could be wrong!! |

Such small differences are often caused by different studio logos or logos after the original credit role. For example: BD-Encoding & Mastering by Company XY |

| Posted: | | | | There should be no differences on this, that must be your player hickup to do the 60Hz If I remember this right, and hoping it is the same on DVD as it was on the LD 60Hz and 30 frames is divideable (is it called that?) into six and six is adding up into 24, The six frames that is to much is then added with one half of each picture in front and back every fift frame, And then when played back at 30fps it shows actually 24fps. Heard that someone is getting a unsteady picture (sticky frame) with this metode but I cant see it, can be because my telly already having trouble shoving 30fps and it is unsteady all the time ha-ha to do something like this in PAL I dont know how rigid the system would have been getting 24 and 25 to stick together | | | We are all at the same age, only at different time... |

| Posted: | | | | Unfortunately there are some non-standard Blu-ray releases in 1080i/50 that suffers from the same PAL speedup as DVD. (i.e. Noble Entertainment) | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

Quote: I.E. Die Hard 3 NTSC was 2:08:24 and BD version 2:08:31. 7 Seconds, might be just a bit more black screen after the credits, or slightly longer studio logo ore something like that, nothing to do with frame coversion. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

cya, Mithi That's what I thought too. Didn't bother to see the ending, but as you said. it could be something like a short logo or something, BD made by xxx.inc | | | "What's God?" | Posted: | | | | Different cuts/mastering of the same film can result in slightly different lengths. The DVD of Tomb Raider and the HD-DVD version of the same movie had a four second difference in length. |
