| | Posted: | | | | Never had a problem with this game before, had it for years. Installed it yesterday tried to play it but after the logo screens have passed, the loading screen appears for a few seconds then the pc just reboots (I can just catch a flash of blue screen before it resets).
Thought it may be corrupt sectors on my HDD so I ran chkdsk and defragged the partition, no luck there. Tried installing it on another drive, with and without the patch, still no joy. No other games seem to be affected. After some googling I found a site that said EaW has issues with window's data execution protection so I put the game on the exception list and tried again, same result.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be? |

After some fiddling, I tried updating the graphics driver, and it seemed to work, cause I haven't had the problem since.. Hope it helps...  | | | Berak

Interestingly, one of the hard drives turns off when the blue screen appears. goblin- The PSU was the first thing that came to mind to me too, but I've tried more demanding games and encountered no problems. |

| | Posted: | | | | While brainstorming I realised that I'd added the game launcher to the DEP exception list instead of the game executable. So I tried again after rectifying this and to my delight it worked! I got past the loading screen, into the menu and started a skirmish game. However after a few minutes the blue screen appeared again!  |

| | Posted: | | | | If you are playing around with driver versions, may I recommend making sure there are no left overs by using something like Driver Sweeper. This will delete any leftover files and ensure you don't create more conflicts between differing file versions than necessary. It actually fixed a problem my Dad was having with GTA IV.

| | Posted: | | | | I don't want to speak too soon but I think it's sorted! I ended up installing some alternative ( Omega) drivers for my ATI gpu, as suggested in the thread goblin linked to. Just had a quick 10 minute game then left the game on the menu screen while I watched some telly, came back to it about half an hour later and it hadn't crashed!  Will do some more testing tomorrow to make sure but it's looking good. Thanks for everyones input! Really appreciate it. | | | | Last edited: by MarEll |
