I've been a customer of Amazon for some years but have a bone to pick.  Can anyone tell me why do they so often leave off the lead actor/actress in many of their titles for sale? This is intermittent and can affect a number of actors in a film.  I've never seen this elsewhere and it completely mystifies me in addition to fiirst pissing me off.

Example: coming Blu Ray of "Three Days of the Condor" in May. Robert Redford and Cliff Robertson are missing and Faye Dunaway is listed at the end. What the hell is up with these people?

I have no idea why they do this.  Can't say that I ever noticed as I primarily use them for purchases and not data lookups.

Same here. All that matters to me is the deal at the time.

Same with me as well.  I don't think I have ever looked at the cast list for a film at Amazon...just the title, format and price.

I can see the usefulness of checking Amazon for links for cast members - after all, if you are a big fan of a certain actor, you might be looking for other films of theirs available on DVD.  Not so much a credit lookup as a possible purchasing lookup.

Well, "Three Days of the Condor" Blu-Ray is a pre-order...not being released until mid May. The profile doesn't even have an image yet. I'm sure they'll get around to updating it. Why they just didn't copy the cast list from the DVD profile is beyond me though.

Odds are they captured data alphabetically.

3 Days of the Condor (Blu): Tina Chen, John P. Connell, Ed Crowley, Jay Devlin, Faye Dunaway
a link on the same page for Silence of the Lambs (Blu) starring Chuck Aber, Lamont Arnold, Obba Babatunde, Diane Baker, Andre B. Blake.  Heaven knows i can't get enough Obba Babatunde films.

Did a search for Batman Begins and three of the first four list:

Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Ken Watanabe, Liam Neeson, Katie Holmes but one (released the same day as two of the others) lists:

Christian Bale, Mark Boone Junior, Richard Brake, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman: (alphabetical)

Someone in Amazon's supply chain is being paid to generate this quality data.

It's not just them though.  When i'm trying to find links to support a common name for a profile and Google some obscure actor i'm amazed at how many shopping sites get hits on these obscure actors when the stars should be listed.  I wonder if they lose much is sales because of this?
Bad movie?  You're soaking in it!

Maybe some top actors object against (or want to be paid for) the use of their name in what amounts to an advertisement? If not, they have lawyers to do it for them... (PS. I am paranoid.)

I'm kind of surprised that they don't just use the info from IMDb considering that it's owned by Amazon.

A substantial proportion, if not most, profiles have cast in order of appearance or equally goofy ordering.  LORD OF THE RINGS stars someone no one has ever heard of as the Voice of the Ring.

I never use Amazon for info on films either. This practice is something I had to mention though. Pretty goofy.

What I would do with control of their on-line ordering dept. - complete revamp in a number of areas.

Not that I ever use it to look for actors but I agree it's odd; by coincidence (as a good example) I came across the film "88 Minutes" yesterday and noticed the cast list was "Deborah Kara Unger, Amy Brenneman, Alicia Witt, and William Forsythe"... hmm, that chap on the cover then, Al Pacino... obviously not a big name!
