Anyone know about the Seattle Space Needle or similar buildings like the one in Atlanta?
These move so slowly that you don't feel the movement unless you are very sensitive to motion or are "looking" for it. | | | Dan |

These move so slowly that you don't feel the movement unless you are very sensitive to motion or are "looking" for it. You are right, it's been done, but nowhere near this scale. Creating a building that has a rotating piece is a massive engineering effort, but putting multiple moving sections that can potentially move independently REALLY takes some engineering. I'm just imagining the tolerances that need to be dealt with on a building of this size that will flex and sway in the wind. I would hate to see the 9th and 10th floors crash into each other! |
