| Posted: | | | | We were able to set aside a bit of our tax refunds, so barring something hideous happening, we (my mom & I) will be going on vacation next month. We'll be in Virginia for a week, with intentions of hitting as many Civil War sites as possible (with definite designs on Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Chancellorsville and Appomattox). We'll be staying in Richmond as base of operations, so we'll be seeing the sites there too. We'll be eating most of our meals out of our picnic basket or in the hotel room (it has a kitchenette) but we would like to eat out at least once. We're looking for good food, something unique (not a chain), under $20-25 a head, and informal (I own almost nothing but t-shirts & jeans). When we went to Shiloh a couple of years ago we ate slugburgers (the specialty of Corinth, MS - no actual slugs involved!) at the counter of a drug store founded by a Civil War veteran. We like almost anything (except sushi). Though that had a connection, the restaurant does not have to relate to the Civil War. Anyway, if anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate it a lot! | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |
