| Posted: | | | | I think it's time I checkied out a Bollywood film or two I know there's a massive range of them but can anyone recommend any that would suit a newbie such as myself? The only experience I've had of them has been when I've been ordering my kebab on a Friday night, but I've enjoyed what I've seen. |

You can get your feet wet with directors Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding, Kama Sutra) and Gurinder Chadha (Bride & Prejudice, Bend It Like Beckham) (English-Bollywood flavored...) and then dive in with Straight from the Heart (with Aishwarya Rai, who was in Bride & Prejudice), Lagaan (scored by A.R. Rahman, composer for Slumdog Millionaire), or Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (big budget and high grosses). Quoting widescreenforever: Quote: Start with Peter Seller's The Party .. | | | ...James

It had a US release, but that seems to have been discontinued. It has many similarities to E.T. in themes and overall tone, yet still retains mild Bollywood trimmings. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

| Posted: | | | | I would go with "Lagaan" or "Monsoon Wedding" for pure Bollywood and "East is East" or "Bend it Like Beckham" for not so pure westernised but good anyway! | | | <---------Mithrandir, Laverne and Shirley Caroline |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll be sure to check them out. East is East is a great film, as you say not proper bollywood but still a great film. Quoting m.cellophane: Quote:
