| Posted: | | | | Doesn't matter where you begin, as long AS you begin... Maybe you ought to get yourself a declawed Cuecat barcode scanner first, that might speed up things considerably.
Good luck! |

There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. | Posted: | | | | I recently performed a full inventory on my collection and found several there were missing or even had an incorrect UPC and I'm one to try to enter them into the database the same day I purchase.
What I did was to create a "Validated" tag and then press ALT-F10 to bring up the Search By UPC dialog, scan in the UPC using the CueCat (or just typed in if extra digits exists) - then flagged the matched profile by hitting the space bar. Rinse-n-Repeat.
After I did a dozen or so, I would edit via "Collection > Flagged > Edit Tags" and then set the Validated tag. Then I would clear all the flags and continue on. |

Based on the Doc's description of his inventory process, I finally got a Cue Cat. Is there a way I can automate this process so that the F-10 and Space Bar keystrokes are done for me? That way I could just stick to scanning. Regardless, this is pretty handy. My kids hate it when I do an inventory since I get a little crazy when something is missing. | | | ...James

You might be able to do it using CatNip. It's the software I used 9 years ago when I first got a CueCat. I haven't used it since then, but if my memory serves me right, CatNip lets you set key strokes to be entered after you've scanned a code. A quick Bing search returned these two sites as places where you can download CatNip: http://www.azalea.com/CueCat/and http://www.cedmagic.com/cuecat/cuecat.htmlGood luck. Not sure if it could wait for a scan to tell it to enter the string but I wouldn't be surprised if it could, it's very versatile. I've not had much use for it lately, what with Mediadogg's bulkedit plugin and all. |
