| Posted: | | | | I just purchased a 7.1 surround sound system and am preparing for its arrival so am looking for a good first movie to watch on it to take full advantage of the surround sound. So, of the movies in my collection, preferebly a blu-ray with a 7.1 track if possible, which would be the best movie to take advantage of the surround.

| Posted: | | | | would 6.1 sound give an equivalent great sound?? if so,, I believe the LOTR trilogy and Star Wars saga is encoded with Dolby Digital EX and/or 6.1 Channel Surround (digital discrete: DTS-ES) for LOTRings .. edit: oops not on blu ray.. yet . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | Have a look here, especially the reviews of the audio on disc. A list of Blu-ray audio formats as used on various releases is here. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | Another very good recommendation can be found here | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | I'm not sure you have any Blu-rays with 7.1 sound. Only a few actually use this. |

| Posted: | | | | thanks for all the sites, I've skimmed the links but will need to go through them a bit more to decide what will be the first title i watch.
It looks like if I want to go 7.1 It'll have to be Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty or 3:10 to Yuma so I'll probably just go for something with 6.1 or 5.1.
I'd like to test it out\break it in with a movie that takes good advantage of the surround channels and the sub. I figure the audio quality will probably be better if I watch one of my Blu-rays (of which I unfortunatly don't really have all that many), but am considering going with a dvd if it would take better advantage of the surround and sub.

Those audio tracks might be spruced up,, but to 7.1?? If you are going to go with 6.1 or 5.1 try those Digital EX titles I suggested earlier, you won't go wrong with 'action adventure' movies that have Academy Awards under their belt for Best Sound . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
