| Posted: | | | | My cable system started carrying SciFi HD... wait I mean SyFyHD ( )... just as Atlantis was finishing up it's final season. I was really looking forward to watching the series again in HD. I agree, disappointed is an understatement. |

| Posted: | | | | The worst thing is that this series was entirely shot using HD cameras. It would take minimal effort to transfer the master to Blu-ray.
For Stargate SG1 I can understand they don't go through the costly process of updating the SFX shots to HD and to remaster the entire show (which wasn't shot for HD broadcast) for Blu-ray ... but Atlantis? I think MGM is passing up a big opportunity here. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

I was actually holding off buying the DVD's for the then-announced blu-rays. Instead, I'll just keep the HDTV broadcast recordings and won't buy the DVD's. Heck, even 720 compressed HDTV looks better than the DVD's so I really don't feel like spending my money on them. I wonder if MGM realizes this will actually cost them sales as not every fan who had been holding off will automatically jump on the DVD's instead. I'll just get the fans' choice Blu-ray and that'll be it for me. Since you already bought them ,I can perfectly understand where you're coming from, though. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | Maybe that's why they decided to hold off on the Blu's due to an apparent lack of interest - because people weren't buying the DVD's since they were waiting for the Blu's.
Now we have the blues. |

| Posted: | | | | I wouldn't say that they're never coming to Blu-ray. But it certainly looks like you might have a longer wait than expected if you're holding out. At least that answers my question of if I should pick up season 5 or wait for the Blu-ray release. Still, I fully expect these to hit Blu-ray eventually. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. Create fake parent profiles to organize your collection. |

Stargate Atlantis was originally supposed to be the first TV series to be released on Blu-ray and now it seems the 'fan's choice' Blu-ray disc is all we'll get. Apparently, MGM doesn't think there's a big enough market for Atlantis on Blu, even though the two direct-to-video Stargate movies sold very well on Blu-ray.

Saying I'm disappointed would be an understatement I think Pushing Daisies, Season 1, 2 beat it. Heroes, Season 1,2,3 is out on Blu-ray |

I think that ultimately you will get your wish. I think a lot of changes have been made in Hollywood plans due largely to the crashed economy, be patient, my friend.
