Just wanted to let you know. Today i tried to access the BD-live content on the Watchmen BR. I had to register, which i tried, but i was brutally rejected

Has this happened to anyone else. I presume it's because i'm not a resident of the US (i live in Holland). Can anyone confirm this?

Thank you,

Paul

Do you have the US version or the European version? I'm waiting for my US Directors Cut version, but have the European version here, but my version doesn't have BD Live so I can't check it before my US copy arrives. Anyway, it's sad if the BD Live is only restricted to US citizens only, when the BD is all regions. I will check it when it arrives to me.

That is one of the reasons I don't like any of this "linking" stuff on DVDs. You buy the disc to watch the movie and if it has some extra stuff you watch that if you want, but why link you to some sort of website or webcast via a disc? I've never understood why some DVDs do that. what happens ten years down the road, and the website isn't renewed or gets updated to something else?

[sarcasm rant]Oh Extra content via a website, yippie Yahooie. [/sarcasm rant]

It sucks that companies restrict access to these features but you have to expect things like this to happen as the DVD/Blu-rays are for sale in the US and Canada only.

I totally agree with klandersen here.

Maybe it will work if you use a proxy server?

It's my belief that they do that to give purchasers "extra perks" in so-called "exclusive" content.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.  In a couple of years nobody will be able to access it.  Does anybody really expect the studios to maintain this stuff indefinitely?  It's a fatally flawed feature.

I live in Belgium and it worked perfectly for me, without using a proxy or anything. I was already registered back when I got my Dark Knight disc, though.

I downloaded the additional extra features without a problem, and saved them to my HDD

BD Live has a good and bad side: the bad side as mentioned is that some content over time might be taken down (probably not in the first few years though). But on the other hand, it allows studios to keep offering additional features even long after the disc was pressed. And that is a plus in my book. So, I guess it's a bit of give-an-take.

I agree but knowing these features exist and not being able to watch them is quite annoying. The BR is jam packed with extras so i still have a lot of stuff to go through.

Thanks everybody for the input though.
