| Posted: | | | | There's been much hype around this but i fail to see why. Yes for the most part it is a fairly solid story original gritty and fairly thought provoking.
But for about the first 45 mins to an hour the film is let down by this stupid fad of reality cinematography. Split between documentary footage and news reports this only hindered the film for me.
The second half though was pretty solid with a nice emotional undercurrent but this whole recurring thing of people blowing up was just so repetitive by the end it was ridiculous.
I thought this movie was about to hit Rambo proportions with the body count.
Also i could never realy care for the main character found him even though he changes his ways towards the end a morally ambiguous selfish twat.
It was more the struggle of the aliens that had me hook.
Decent movie i would give it 4 out of 5 despite it's faults it does redeem it self enough to meet the strengths of story but this could have been a classic.
Well thats my 2 cents happy to here what any one else has to say on this movie. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | I went to see this today, and I did like it. Generally I don't like action movies, but this time - for some reason - the large body count and action sequences didn't bother all that much. Overall I felt that action was not the main thing here.
What irked me a bit, though, was the concept of having these aliens been so nicely incorporated into the human sociiety in mere 20 years. For me that was very inplausible (to have shops with signs that no prawns allowed, and things like that). I felt that people had adjusted way too easily to the arrival of these aliens, the disappearance of language barrier and things like that.
Sharlto Copley's performance was absolutely fabulous, that is a big plus. | | | Mika I hate people who love me, and they hate me. (Bender Bending Rodriguez) |

Sharlto Copley's performance was absolutely fabulous, that is a big plus. Yeah the whole fact an event like that would just be reserved to the South African government to is just ludicrous. It would be an international affair and the aliens would not be allowed to live like that. I also wonder where all those weapons came from as they could not get back into there ship America would take those weapons in no time. Still it was pretty solid once it got going. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | I thought it was a good movie...one of the best I have seen this decade and one of the few that deserves the hype. I did not have a problem with the intigration or the local nature of the settlement. I was a huge fan of Alien Nation...both the series and the film...so that might be why. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I see someone brought up Alien Nation.
I haven't seen District 9 yet but it sure seems to remind me of Alien Nation.
How similar really is D9 to Alien Nation? |
