Hello All

I HATE HATE HATE double dipping - even more so now I'm collecting Blu-ray.

So...here's what I want to know:

HARRY POTTER
I see the the US is getting Ultimate Editions of the HP films (starting with the first two in Dec).
Q1. Does anyone know if the UK is getting these editions?

Q2. Is HP1 dubbed so that all mentions of the Philosopher's Stone is changed to Sorceror's Stone? (Why they made that stupid title change, I don't know!!)

I'd be happy to import the US editions (I assume they'll be All Region like most of WB BDs) but I really don't want Sorceror's Stone mentioned in the actual film (I can put up with it on the packaging).

X-MEN
In a couple of weeks the X-Men Quadrilogy gets released.
I was lucky enough to pre-order this on BD from Amazon.co.uk for £29.97! BUT....everything I can find on UK sites states is will be a 4 disc set.

Given that's is RRP is £65.99 I can't see how this could be correct.

I really want these films on BD, but I don't want single disc editions which are missing the extras I have on my DVD versions.

Does anyone know more information - all I can find is that the Australian release is 8 discs.

All help in these matters would be gratefully received.

HARRY POTTER

In this case I would wait until all movies are out and then maybe grabbing a Blu complete set. I have 1-5 as DVDs (bought each at ~10€) and will not buy the last movie (and the 2 still to come) too soon.

You are out of luck if the IMDB is right:
Quote:
The movie is known as "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" everywhere except the USA and so every scene in which the Philosopher's Stone was mentioned was filmed twice, once with the actors saying "Philosopher's" and once with the actors saying "Sorcerer's".

That's why I imported the Canadian version.  I'm trusting the Canadian Blu-ray will similarly be correct.

That stupid title change was made because 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' is the title of the book here in the states.  You can blame the publisher who didn't think US kids would purchase a book about a Philosopher.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.

I'll just have to hope they get released in the UK.

As for the title change - the publishers obviously had a very low opinion of US children! Obviously that particular publisher was an idiot!

the UK is getting the new versions of all the films, including No 6 - which is appearing this year as the non Ultimate version and then appearing as the ultimate version with the release of the 1st part of the last film next year.

[EDIT - just rechecked and although they re listed at Amazon.co.uk - they are listed there as the US import version. wtf. I have now searched everywhere and I can't find any other reference. So basically I can't show that they are coming to the UK.]

... and they thought they wouldn't know what a "Philosopher's Stone" was... but then again, I bet most UK children didn't either!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a reference to a Canadian release yet....the Ultimate editions aren't showing up on Amazon.ca at all
