Like their HD to Blu upgrade program earlier this year (Red2Blu) Warner is offering a DVD to Blu-ray upgrade path now.

Not sure this interests me like the HD DVD program did (prices were better) but i thought someone might be interested.

At less than $10 each, it doesn't sound like a bad deal.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

That's so damned unfair!!

Why is this sort of thing only offered to US residents?

Do WB not think that people in other countries buy Blu-ray?

Gutted!

A bunch of these movies are available for about $10 each on Amazon anyway.

Unlike their Red2Blu program, this one doesn't seem like a good deal to me.  They cost more than the other program and you have to send in the disc this time.  I didn't see anything on the list I was interested in and I'd guess in a year or two you could easily find them for the price they're asking today.

Or as Ace points out, for a few dollars more, you can get them from Amazon without the hassle of upgrading, have them much sooner and still have your DVD to do with as you choose.

Mark, if you didn't make use of this deal, now's the time to do it.  You can now literally send in any DVD title and get one of the titles on the list.  Where you have overlap on DVDs it's still a great deal.

Are you saying, I can send in say The Aviator dvd for Any Given Sunday Blu with this? Any WB dvd for any BD on the list, or does teh dvd have to be of the list also. So it's not title for that title, but a dvd for a blu?

Yes.  See this thread.

Any Warner DVD can be swapped for any Warner BD.

I got in while they were running their special where any DVD at all (so long as it was professionally produced and not porn) could be swapped for Blu-ray and sent them some poorly-mastered public-domain cartoons, a couple discs that had been replaced for being defective and my old non-anamorphic copy of Showgirls and got a bunch of Blu-rays. Too bad you can only do this once.

No, any DVD professionally produced from ANY company can be sent in.  It doesn't have to a Warner title.

Wow, even better!   With some of the crap I have laying around, it might be time for some $5 blu's!

One last question to anyone who has done this program...
Do we have to send in the case and cover with the dvds. or just discs themselves? I was reading the program rules and it didn't specify. If just discs, it's jackpot as I have about 5 laying around without any covers just begging to go somewhere else.

It says in the FAQ to just send the discs. My advice is if you don't have spare DVDs, head to a local pawn-shop, find titles they are dumping for $1/each, and rid the world of some fullscreen discs.

Even better, a couple of used record stores locally will every now and then put out a box of free dvds, just crap they can't sell. This may be teh only time I regret not grabbing that copy of Catwoman.

But after reading the FAQ's (thought rules would cover it, but they didn't) it just keeps getting better. I can get rid of my region 4 Predator 2 dvd from 10 years ago when R1 didn't exist. It's hard enough to sell or trade old dvds that aren't rare as it is, almost impossible for stuff from other regions!
Between a couple old other region 2 or 4 discs and all the stuff i picked up at Hollywood Video closing sales for 50 cents or a quarter each (1 of 3 goes directly to trade/sell/get rid of stack it seems) I'm covered! So happy to say goodbye to Punisher theater cut, Psycho 3 Goodtimes version, that coverless Ghost Dog I've had for 12 years and the other crap I thought I'd be stuck with forever!

Sometimes i really hate not being a US resident!

On top of this great deal (i heard of it before, when they did a Red2Blu) you also have a lot more features on the PS3 (Netflix, Hulu, a video/movie section in the store, a lot more PSone titles in the store) that we in Europe don't get.
