| Posted: | | | | I know it is only months away(i think late Feb.) but anybody else miss idol? I was wondering out there in dvd profiler land if anyone still considers themselves "Idol" fans? I listed a few of the standouts, was wondering if any is considered the "most popular" American Idol! And if you are wondering how this ties in to DVDProfiler lets not forget the idol dvd contributions, such as the Ten Commandments musical(Adam Lambert), Enchanted(Carrie Underwood song "Ever After"), and the oscar winning From Justin to Kelly. | | | Last edited: by brimac5477 |

Why do anything unless you either A: Enjoy it, B: Profit from it, or C: Both | | | Last edited: by Dr. Killpatient |

Why do anything unless you either A: Enjoy it, B: Profit from it, or C: Both I have nothing against profiting. Im a Scot a nation which spawned Adam Smith. It's what he is selling and the way he sells it i have an issue with and how easily he does it cause it seems ppl are stupid enough to buy into these talentless wonders. He uses and drains the life out of ppl. That's not a fair profit. |

Then you by all means plz die. Talentless? Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, and Chris Daughtry are as good as ANYONE in their respective music genres. and Adam Lambert is probably the most unique performer the music industry has seen in a while. How many awards does Carrie have to win? Does that mean people like Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, among others are true talent because they didnt come from the show? Come on! You could argue that the majority of rappers are talentless if there music isn't your bag. What makes guys like Jay-Z, 50 Cent, etc.. "talent". And besides Simon Cowell isn't the only one who is cashing in on the kids from idol!! |

I have read that Colbie Caillat tried out and didnt even make it to the judges room! http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1591609/20080725/caillat__colbie.jhtmlI bet idol producers are kicking themselves over that one!! |

For being 'talentless wonders' they sure have sold a lot of albums in the US: Carrie Underwood - 10,396,000 sold Kelly Clarkson - 10,389,000 sold Chris Daughtry - 5,278,000 sold Like 'em or not, you can't argue with those kinds of numbers. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I missed the first season but have watched every season since then. Clay Aiken, Fantasia Barrino, David Archuleta and Adam Lambert have been my favorites. It's nice to have music in prime time, even if it is a competition show. | | | ...James

| Posted: | | | | I've never watched an episode. Since I don't get any TV channels, I've never seen a point to making arrangements to watch it at a friend's house since I always figured it wouldn't measure up to The Lawrence Welk Show for good music | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | Like all reality tv, American Idol is as unreal as can be... Gilligan's Island was more plausible. Having said that, There are parts of AI that I love... The belief by auditioners who cannot sing a note that somehow the judges just don't get it... the honest humility of others... the off-key singing we can hear, but the judges do not and vice versa -- the in house sound system must be off... the picking of horrible songs by the producers and judges which the singer then gets degraded for... Paula criticizing the second song by a performer during the first round (revealing secrets from the dress rehearsal)... the obvious, never auditioned (or fake auditioned) plants and the fawning over them by the judges... Cowell's inability to like anything outside his pop comfort zone... short contestants towering over Seacrest... Randy's inability to say anything understandable or usable (he must be in the worst place to hear the pitch of the singer compared to the band, complaining the most of "pitchiness" on well-sung melodies, and his inability to hear the truly off-pitch caterwauling)... the praising of gawdawful melisma, where beautiful melodies are destroyed by an attitude of "why sing one note well when I can sing dozens?"
