| | Posted: | | | | My 7 year old Granddaughter has progressed past Teletubbies/ Walt Disney Princess's/ ET / Ghostbusters the occasionally BW monster movies etc .. But I feel she is looking for something a bit more edgy and scarier .. as she is now asking for something Really Scarey .. ( Dan Ackroyd's Twlight Zone? )  We screened Jurassic Park last night and as exciting as it was .. there were still areas that were a bit over the top for her. including Crichton's screenplay on the whole generics scenario was 'over her head' and was... ' boring'..  She is obviously far too young for films such as Friday 13th and Halloween etc.. So I'm going to try and keep this in a PG level and my thoughts have now cast upon Made For TV movies.. I have the original 1990 IT and thought this may be the holy grail .. or maybe not.. (Plus That clown ( Tim Currey) he was pretty damn good as the evil character and I shouldn't scare her off all clowns together.., ( such as I did with my daughter 20 years ago ..  ) So have I missed any thing..? apart from TV's Lost IN Space / Twilight Zone and Outer Limits all at one or another time has seen some of .. I liked the Dark Sky Films DVD release. It has commentaries for all three shorts, and and short featurettes on Richard Matheson and Karen Black. Qoting Antares: Quote:

I was pretty young at the time but still...I had seen many other "scary" movies, and none had been as scary as that movie. I'm not the hugest fan of scary movies, but that one definitely left it's mark on me. I have yet to watch it all the way through, but maybe someday I'll get around to it. Grave Secrets: The Legacy of Hilltop Drive (1992) was pretty creepy, and based on true events. Poltergeist was based on the original story also, but the story was changed quite a lot there. | | | | Corey |

Since people like Stephen King...how about the Langoliers? Not really a jump out at you scary, but more creepy than anything. Or more in the funny category (since she's only 7), Beetlejuice? Gremlins is a great one, too. | | | | Lori |
