Being in the market for a printer, I've come to the decision of either buying ink as needed, or buying an entire printer each time the ink runs out.  I've seen printers that will meet my needs for about $35 to $45.  The ink is almost that much.  I just can't figure out what to do with all those printers!

Give them to a local charity and write them off on your taxes.

At the moment a brand new color laser printer is for sale for around €100. When I need to buy new toner for my present one it's about €120, so guess what I'm buying when the toner ran out.
Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer.

You all keep forgetting that the ink/toner that comes with the new printer is not as big as the one you can buy seperately. It's usually about 30-80% of that size. There are exceptions though. Just make sure to actually compare how much ink really is inside that cartridge or for how many pages the toner is advertised.

some of the newer printers, the ink is enough to print a few test sheets.

The kodak printers have ink that costs £9.99 for black and £14.99 for the colour. Which is very good value.

Think hard if you really need color. If not: the cost per page of a decent black-only laser is unbeatable.
