I understand it was filmed in New Zealand and some Kiwe money went into it, but the country of orgin is supposed to be who fianceed the film not were it was filmed.  This would make the new Star Wars trilogy Kiwie as well, unless they are going in alphbeticla order.

The CoO is the country of the main production company.  It has nothing to do with where the movie was filmed, per se.

In this case, Wingnut is a New Zealand company.

Star Wars has no production company from New Zealand.

By that reasoning, Spider-Man films and James Bond's Casino Royale would be Japanese films.  It goes both ways.  As Hal states, the main country of origin is based on where the main production company is based, not which studio financed the film.

I don't think I made my origional statement clear.  I belive that Lord Of The Rings is an American movie because it was fianced here.  Am I correct in this?

As others have said it's based on the main production company, not who provides the most money. If it were, then most British films would be listed as US these days.

Jericko1,

By your logic then, anything made by Sony would be Japanese, is that right?

By the way, in this topic you have misspelled "Kiwi" incorrectly 3 times, once in the subject as "Kiwiw", and then in your opening post twice, once as Kiwe", and then once as "Kiwie".  This must be some sort of record.  Ha, ha.

Your posts are almost as painful to read as Skip's are.

This.

As Hal said, the CoO is for the main production company, not the main finance company.  Since WingNut did all of the production work, and is a Kiwi company, New Zealand is the proper CoO.
