Good day, Sirs,

there seems to be a high worldwide demand for informations like this, so here's the official statement:

I've just replaced a DV disc by a B-r disc!

It was the first time, and happened sooner than I thought (John Carpenter's "The Thing" US Collector's Edition, RC1, non-anamorphic, no german language track -> german B-r 9,98 €).

Love, bbbbb
Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect]

This was one of my first upgrades as well, although not to a German version. Since I got the US blu, I have to keep my old dvd for the extras. I hear that German (think it was German, some version out there) has all the dvd extras along with the film.
As for picture quality, WOW! It was like seeing a whole new movie compared to the non-anamorphic dvd.
The non-anamorphics make the easiest replacments. I cannot recommned Natural Born Killers enough to anyone sitting on the R1 director's cut dvd. It's not gonna be a reference quality disc, but when compared to the old dvd is no contest. So much prettier in every aspect from colors to clarity. Even the scenes that are supposed to look like crap still look kinda good!

Same here.  I'm only going to upgrade those movies that it makes sense to upgrade (like THE MATRIX), and will stick with Standard for others.

Oh, and I, too, purchased THE THING on Blu-Ray.  It was one of the first films on my 'makes sense to upgrade' list.

Watched The Road Warrior on Blu last night, this is another title that while even though the dvd is anamorphic, the BD just destroys it on every level. Sound mix kinda is kinda weak for hd (it's the same track from the dvd as far as I can tell), but wow does this film look great for the first time! Another worth the upgrade.
