| Posted: | | | | Armageddon has finally made it to Blu-ray. Due to the fact that none of the DVD releases have been anamorphic, I haven't been able to watch this since I purchased my widescreen TV. Needless to say, I will be watching this on Tuesday night. As an added bonus, for me at least, you get $10 off, at Best Buy at least, if you buy it with Tombstone...also making it's Blu-ray debut. | Posted: | | | | I'll definitely be picking these up, but the releases are bittersweet due to the lack of features (in Armageddon in particular). That said, I cannot wait to watch Armageddon on blu. | | | Reviewer, HorrorTalk.com

| Posted: | | | | I never purchased the Criterion version...it wasn't anamorphic...and I believe it was the only 'Director's Cut' available, so I won't be bothered by the fact that it is the theatrical cut. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. This used to be one of my anual watches, and I haven't seen it in more than three years. Needless to say, I am excited. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | I never realized that the Criterion wasn't anamorphic. The European releases have all been anamorphic but I've never bothered to pick it up. Maybe time to get it on Blu instead. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

I think this review sums up my feelings perfectly if someone can plz sort the link thing out. I could sort the link thing out had you provided a link. As to your question, I was probably older than you are now when I first saw it, so there is nothing to out grow. I think the review linked by SpaceFreakMicha above, sums it up nicely for me...especially his final thoughts... "As popcorn adrenaline thrills, I love 'Armageddon'. It's a fun, fun film experience – a veritable blitzkrieg of stunning imagery – a must for anyone who never tires of explosions, space shuttles, and fast cars." | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | I have the Armageddon Blu-ray arriving on Tuesday from Amazon. I'll keep the old Criterion DVD for the extras.
The film is about as unscientific (borders on the ridiculous) and unrealistic as you can go with a killer asteroid movie, but somehow it's still likeable.
You certainly won't miss much at all between the Armageddon Theatrical and Director's cuts... | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | So... Armageddon or Deep Impact? I think I prefer the latter. Slightly less ridiculous. Slightly. |
