| Posted: | | | | Thanks for the info Skip. Rory Edit: Just played it on my Sony BDP S360, and had no issues. Looks like my player is not one of the problem units as Donnie has pointed out. | Posted: | | | | This is true around the world. Amazon UK have removed it from being for sale after it was spotted on release day and posted about in many forums. Seems Paramount got a heads up to the possible problem as it was released in the UK a week later but went though with the release as cheaper to send out replacements (to the small % that will even send back???) than a full recall before release. |

| Posted: | | | | Paramount works fast. This is from blu-ray.com: Quote: We have received word from Paramount confirming that the error was due to quality control issues at Technicolor. As part of the Paramount's and Techicolor's continued dedication to providing consumers with the best possible Blu-ray experience, they have setup a replacement program for the defective discs. Those who have purchased the disc can either return the disc to the retailer or contact Technicolor directly at 888-370-8621 for the US or Canada and 08000-852-613 in the UK. Technicolor expects replacement discs to be at retailers by May 18th. I called them and they took down my address and phone number, but said nothing about my bad copy. | | | We're on a mission from God.

PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT RECALLING SAVING PRIVATE RYAN SAPPHIRE SERIES BLU-RAY DISCS
Replacement Product to be Available at Retail by Tuesday, May 18
HOLLYWOOD, CA (May 12, 2010) - Paramount Home Entertainment today announced that it is recalling the Sapphire Series Blu-ray edition of Saving Private Ryan recently released in North America, the United Kingdom and the Benelux countries due to an audio synch error that occurred during Technicolor's authoring process. Although Technicolor employs comprehensive quality control measures, in this instance the issue was not detected prior to replication.
"Technicolor has been a valuable partner to Paramount Home Entertainment, and both Paramount and Technicolor are committed to providing the highest quality product to consumers," said Dennis Maguire, President, Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment Worldwide. "Our Sapphire Series was created to present our greatest films with the finest picture and sound quality available. Saving Private Ryan is a five time Academy Award? winning film including Best Director from one of America's most acclaimed filmmakers so we are recalling this edition to ensure that every Blu-ray disc honors Steven Spielberg's vision."
Technicolor has set up the following toll-free numbers for consumers who have already purchased the Saving Private Ryan Sapphire Series Blu-ray, which provides details on how they can receive a replacement copy -- US and Canada: 888-370-8621, UK: 08000-852-613. Consumers can also return the Blu-ray to the stores where they purchased the product to receive a replacement. Technicolor expects to have replacement discs available at retail no later than Tuesday, May 18. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | I'll bet the new replacement discs ( you keep the case and receive the replacement disc in the mails), will have a different disc ID (naturally). but the same UPC in the databank would reflect the old disc ID, ,and not everyone would be aware of the recall,, or care , or know about and therefore would have the original disc ID.. How would all this reflect for contributions in the long haul..?? | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| Posted: | | | | Same as any other disc that has multiple Disc Id possibilities. There may indeed be those unaware of the issue, don't care, ior may view it as they would an error in stamps, coins or something. The recall in effect may wind up making those who own the error, the possessors of a rare collector's piece, perhaps driving up the price. No big deal from where I sit. Had I already purchased it, I would probably fall in the last category and just go buy a new copy. The question in that case would be how I handle it locally. | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! Actaully, I upgraded to the DTS LE a few years back, but this is tempting on Blu and when it hits the $10 bin I won't be able to pass for long. | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

| Posted: | | | | Today UPS dropped off a pre-paid next day envelope. The instructions say to send back the 2 discs, amray case, etc... The store receipt isn't needed though, thank goodness. Once they recieve the disc back they'll send a new copy UPS 2nd Day. | | | We're on a mission from God.

From what I've heard, the new copy will have a UPC with a yellow background vs. the white backround, which is on the defective copy. I'm sure that it'll have a different disc ID as well, but who knows. | | | We're on a mission from God.
