Non-GMO Shopping Guide

Europe and other countries are ahead of the USA in recognizing harm to our health and the damage to  the crops we depend on. Our judicial system either by corruption or stupidity has already permitted Monsanto with their cast of lawyers to force planters to use their products or pay when the wind, insects or animals bring the Monsanto patented seed on their fields. of the soya, corn, etc.in this country. All for the greed and power knowing that if they are allowed to continue the world will have to come them for the seeds to plant their crops.

The following is taken from Coasttocoast nightly talk show, www.coasttocoastam.com news letter.

On Tuesday's program, author and filmmaker Jeffrey Smith discussed the dangers of eating genetically modified (GM) foods, and how the biotech industry has tried to cover up negative reports. The stakes are high right now, with a Supreme Court battle over approval of genetically modified alfalfa, and the Dept. of Justice combined with the Dept. of Agriculture investigating if Monsanto is a monopoly, he reported. Some countries are taking the threat of GM foods seriously, with India recently banning GM eggplant.

Genetically modified foods are created to either tolerate herbicides or become insect killers themselves. Right now, the main GM crops are soy (91%), corn (85%), canola (85%), cottonseed, and sugar beets, he detailed. A recent study of hamsters fed GM soy beans, showed that by the third generation most of them had become infertile or sterile, died at 5x the rate of the control group, and were slower to reach sexual maturity, Smith said. In testing of farm animals, they demonstrated a marked preference for non-GM feed, and would avoid eating the GM feed, he added.

Monsanto is "amazing in their ability to completely spin the truth," and they rigged research when it came to their genetically modified bovine growth hormone, Smith asserted. Their ultimate goal is to "genetically engineer 100% of the commercial seeds in the world and patent them-- to replace nature!" he continued. The Non-GMO Shopping Guide offers a listing of various food categories and specifies which brands are not genetically modified.

Does this count as a political thread? All crops humans eat are genetically modified in some way. I think there are concerns about patent law and also about sustainability, but most of us would have starved aa few decades ago without GMO.

What is political about it, both parties have taken large some of money from the various chemical, drug, and oil cartels. I just thought some of you might be concerned about your and your children's health.
Children of my era didn't have all  the learning problems, but then we didn't guzzle do colas and candy, etc. all day, we ate naturally grown foods and were not allowed to snack, I can not ever remember any snack foods. But then I didn't sit round watching TV, from the time i could pick upa spade, as soon the ground thaw I tilling the ground to ready it for planting.

Maybe if you checked out some of the studies of how some of these GM grains harm the live stock that feed on them, how modified bacteria spread to their intestines, etc. Doctors have seem a rise human intestinal problems.

You think your news journalists are going to report this, the companies they work for make much momey off of advertising. A group tried, they were ask to water the report down, on and on, so they quit

Who funds all the studies at medical schools? Drug companies, if they get off base there goes their grants.

Sweetums it isn't political, it is greed and desire for power.

I turned 76, Cinco De Mayo, May5th. I had a physical a few months ago and all the doctors could say was to keep on doing what ever your doing. I don't need or taken any proscription drugs.

Drug companies spent billions of dollars on advertising proscription drugs, why because they know there is a number of people will demand these drugs and some of their doctors will comply. The legal disclaimers should raise a flag. When some people in the news death is drug related how many times do they find prescription from many doctors.

I have been retired for about twenty years and spent alot of time studying thiis.

When I was a child we grew our own food, no pesticides, chemicals. My mother, a farmer's daughter knew certain flowers kept bugs away. Our chickens were free range, their area was moved periodically. We grew everything from asparagus to zucchini. I did have to check and pick worms off the tomatoes, and the chickens enjoyed them.

Oh, bs that you or more people would have starbed.People are starving all over the world.
We in the USA used to feed the world. What stop[ed that, inheritance tax, when their parents died their children could npt pay the taxes. So the large companies bought up the land and stopped growing people food and grow what ever their money could get politicians to get the government to pay for, or pay them not to grow..

This is likely TMI medically, so I'll spoiler it.

Spoiler:  (Select to view)
I was on my menstrual period for over 5 years straight.  Yes, you read that right.  5 YEARS.  Sometimes more, sometimes less, but it was always there.  I used to joke I kept Kotex in business.

I was told I had PCOS, but because I was at a low-income clinic they did no tests whatsoever.  However, I do not believe I have PCOS.  Because I fixed the problem myself.

What returned me to a normal cycle was giving up soda & giving up fast food, and eating a diet of all natural and/or organic food.  I also dropped about 50 pounds in the first year I did that.  I have no regrets at all.  Not only do I feel much better, not only is my cycle normal now, but the food tastes so much better.  There is so much more flavor that if you haven't tried organic food you do not know what you are missing.  Yes, my grocery bill is significantly higher, but for your health I am convinced there is nothing better that you can do on your own, unless it's to quit smoking.

I hardly ever get sick, whereas my much younger and thinner co-workers (gents in their early to mid-twenties) call in at least once a month.  I haven't called in yet this year.  Friends of mine who still drink sodas and eat crap suffer from diabetes and chronic infections.
If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.
