For all those out there that still care about wrestling. Raw (the flagship weekly show of WWE) got a 2.6 in the viewing ratings on Monday. Im not an expert on these ratings but im party sure that that's bad. And frankly im not surprised and i dare say they deserve it.

I think this video explains a lot

Oh how i miss the attitude era.

2.6 is about 3 million viewers (that means that 2.6 of all TV households in the country were tuned in, each point is around 1.16 million). That seems extremely good to me for a show on cable TV on a Monday when all of the fall's Primetime shows are making their return.

I (sort of) understand pro-wrestling's appeal to its core audience (basically a male-oriented sports "soap opera"), but never cared for it personally, even as a kid.

Over here wrestling was shown late on our cable sports channels. It just became something to switch off to. I guess in the US it is different as you have all prime time shows on at the same time as it's on.

To answer your question, lack of competition happened.  You don't have to be good when you're the only game in town.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I had thought of that.

Well said. I haven't watched wrestling regularly since about 2002-2003.

In my opinion, WWE's purchase of WCW was the worst thing that ever happened to wrestling.

I guess Kinji Shibuya & Masa Saito aren't wrestling any more. I know Leo (the Lion) Nomellini died. So did my coach Ivan (the Terrible) Allain.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

I only watch TNA now.  Raw has gotten boring and sickening.  I don't like Cena, HHH or Orton na d am tired of havig them shoved down my throat.  WWE disrepects legends as well.

Exactyl, that is the point in which everything started to go down hill.  Night right away but it was never the same quality after that.  They stopped caring about what fans wanted.  As far as I am concerned WCW had the better prodouct in th in the nintes, long before and long after it reflectted in the writing.  Toward s the end WWF was better but no one ever atempted to fix WCW.
