It took me about 2.5 hours to physically re-alphabetize the entire collection. |

| | Posted: | | | | Usually, when new arrivals come in, I first give them a quick spin within the week they arrived: just checking main menu, play 10 minutes of a chapter to check the disc is OK and plays well, then I alphabetize immediately. | | Posted: | | | | I've got over 3000 discs. The problem is always that there's not enough room left to leave some room, if you know what I mean. As a result, the purchase of just a single title in the "A"s will create utter chaos. Consequently, I let the new discs pile up until I get irritated enough to deal with it. | | Posted: | | | | I feel bad for you guys, I used to be there with racks and shelf units that have dividers. After reaching over 1,000 it became a chore so I made my own shelves: 10 8 foot shelves and 10 5 foot shelves which are almost full. The units are free standing with no dividers and attached to the wall with one screw at the top. I have enought material to make 10 10 foot shelves. If I add 5 discs to the first shelf all I have to do is go the the end and move 5 from the right side of each shelf to the beginning of the next shelf and in less than 2 minutes I'm finished. | | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

Then again, if I have a new title I haven't watched all of yet, it goes on a specific rack. It's a heckuva lot easier for me to organize data than over 3000 physical items. That plus the wife is starting to make noises about wanting her walls back. |

| | Posted: | | | | I have run out of room (I have a really small house - a little over 700 sq ft). Right now anything new goes into a box in my closet. The only way I get a space on the shelf is if I upgrade something to blu-ray (or get it in a box set). Where ever the space is that develops from the upgrade, I look in the boxes to find something that will be shelved close.
So ... 10 minutes or so? I guess?
The only shelf I have room on is my Criterion shelves. And that's only because they used to be bookshelves and I got rid of the books.

| | Posted: | | | | I don't re-sort my collection. I tried that when my collection was very small. Now I add them to profiler and place them on to a shelf with the location in my personal info. I keep a couple of binders with the cover info and alphabetized list with the shelves (for guest use). |

Same here (plus some 'work arounds' like deciding all BDs will be held separately anyway etc)... new shelf parts are in but I've got to find the time to put the shelves up! | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
