| Posted: | | | | Finally got around to watching this and as a big fan of John Carpenter I have to admit to being disappointed. Sure, the tension builds, but it builds at a horribly slow pace and the payoff is average at best, though Adrienne Barbeau does the best job as the radio host. Still glad I watched it, but was expecting something a bit more haunting. Rent it.
(Just about to watch the remake which is supposedly very poor) |

| Posted: | | | | Very very highly recommended!!! Very moody, very atmospheric, and I thought the film had a great payoff. Absolutely one of my favorite John Carpenter films! Please don't watch the remake Sam! I literally consider it one of the worst films I've ever had the displeasure of sitting through. It was a nightmare from start to finish. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree, the original version is very highly recommended, like most of Carpenters movies of that time. The remake - well, it had some changes compared to the old version, and I have seen a lot of movies that I would consider a lot worse but I wouldn't recommend it. | | | |

A great series of films. Damned, I even like Christine (1983) and Starman (1984).
John Carpenter's decline began with Big Trouble in Little China (1986) when he stopped giving the impression to take the business seriously. | | | Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect] |
