I just received the blu-ray of Millenium 3 that completes the trilogy  based on Stieg Larsson's famous novels.

I consider this trilogy as one of the best in cinema history, so I created a special page on my "Image from movies" site for it. Those who are interested may find there a quick review of the trilogy, headshots of main actors and 40 HD screencaps for each movie.

I guess you'll not be standing first in line to watch the remake, then, Surfeur...

They are good, I'll certainly admit that. It's always fun when Swedish films make this much impact. Doesn't happen too often nowadays.

I have not seen the third one, but if it's as good as the other two it will be outstanding. I thoroughly
enjoyed the first two films.

Still got to see the last 2 but can't wait. The first one was masterpiece. So raw and gripping, i loved the use of the old film footage.

Gave a real eeriness to the mystery.

Need to watch the third one soon.

First one was great. The second was a bit disappointing, but I think you have to see it more as a preparation for the third part.

Til now I just have all parts as DVD, but I think about double-dipping and addeing them also in blu. Do you think it is worth?

That's no excuse. They shouldn't have hired a new director for 2/3.

No. I own the german B-rDs, but didn't see Män som hatar kvinnor again on B-rD yet, Flickan som lekte med elden was appalling ugly, Luftslottet som sprängdes at least had a lot of sleet throughout and forced subtitles during the original swedish language track, "OmU", like in the prehistoric times of DVD, but what do you expect when the öffentlich-rechtliche Rundfunk is incorporated, technical quality?, so be warned.

I would never watch a film with a dub track.

If you want to have an idea of the quality, you have on my page 40 HD screencaps (1920x1080) for each movie. Note that grain that appear on screencaps  looks far better in the movies and give to the image a non-numeric cinema aspect. Personnally, I find my editions of blu-ray excellent, and do not regret them, knowing that there are only 5€ of difference with DVD editions.

Only recently read the books. Sure going to look for the dvd's.
Unfortunately, I can't use DVDprofiler at the moment due to lack of a Windows computer.

If not yet available in your country, wait for the Extended Editions. Each film includes lots of extra scenes not included in the standard editions (theatrical version). Extended Editions are over 3 hours long. They should be identical with the tv version. They started showing the tv version here in Finland today. Each movie is split in four episodes.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know it was a TV series in the first place. 180 minutes is a lot, the runtime of part 2 was only 124 min.

Does anyone know which cuts are the original ones? When the trilogy was filmed, was the plan to make movie trilogy or TV-series, or both? I already have all the movies on Blu-ray and now I'm wondering if it makes any sence to buy TV-series too.

If the original intent was TV-series, maybe then, but if it was movies and they have just added scenes to fill up the time to reach needed running time for TV-series, maybe no thanks.
