| Posted: | | | | TRON: Legacy gets a good return at cinemas. Will this set a precedent for a sequel to Blade Runner?
Of course it might be hard to base it on Blade Runner The Edge of Human given how long it has been.
Personally i don't think a sequel would be a very good thing. But i always like to try and predict things and notice trends. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

It's not unlikely that Warner might follow and see a good opportunity to make some money as well. Fox already have two prequels to Alien in the works. |

| Posted: | | | | Your basic premise is flawed. Tron: Legacy is not going to do well... at least, not that well. Without the 3D the film is weak, the script is very weak even in 3D, and the mouth on Clu is ugly. The second showing of the film had only 150 tickets presold at the local Imax, when Avatar was sold out for every show for more than six weeks. Word of mouth will be to avoid the 2D version and even fanboys will not see it repeatedly, because the plot is terrible and the action scenes are shorter in time than the first one.
Tron will have zero effect on whether or not anyone makes a new Blade Runner film. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | Numbers are in. With an exceedingly weak Yogi Bear coming in second this weekend at $16.7 million, Warner Bros. hopes children will still go to it over Christmas and New Year's weekends, but it will be dead by the time school returns. Expect a quick release on DVD and Blu-ray. So Tron: Legacy topped this weekend at $43.6 million. Impressive? No. Avatar opened at more than $77 million and stayed sold out for six weeks. Tron should be out of theaters before mid January. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

But it's a good indicator of what sort of market there is for a Blade Runner sequel. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

| Posted: | | | | I didn't care for Tron or Blade Runner. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand. The Centauri learned this lesson once. We will teach it to them again. Though it take a thousand years, we will be free. - Citizen G'Kar |

The indication would be that any Blade Runner sequel would never earn profit and would be stupid to contemplate... sure, why not spend $300 million on a film which will never reach $150 million in revenues... why not throw more than $150 million dollars away on a total loss. You must have WB and Meg Whitman confused. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

| Posted: | | | | I did see it twice after all, in 2D (schedules wouldn't let me see it in 3D yet). Plan on catching the IMAX version when my son flies back on NYE.
I watched it the 2nd time with my brother who wanted to see it, he enjoyed the movie. Yes, it does have some slow scenes and the age degration tech coud have been better but the action was great. There are Easter eggs you can catch if you've seen the first movie recently. |

| Posted: | | | | I saw it with a very good friend (Hi there Cliff - count to 10!) in IMAX 3D and I loved the Black Hole reference (The Director I believe is slated to shoot a new version of that film soon)
I thought it was a fair movie, the ageing process was not as good as I hoped, and sometimes the plot did drag.
Oh, and the hair modelling credit did get a slight chuckle (As in the Clu hair piece should win an award for artistic impressionism alone)
Overall, not a bad movie - and one that fans will enjoy.
But a great movie? No - It will however go on to inspire a future generation of artists (as did the original, just ask Pixar and even Daft Punk [Who I loved with the score, but then I am a Daft fan anyway!) | | | Signature? We don't need no stinking... hang on, this has been done... blast [oooh now in Widescreen] Ah... well you see.... I thought I'd say something more interesting... but cannot think of anything..... oh well And to those of you who have disabled viewing of these signature files "hello" (or not) Registered: July 27, 2004 |
