What would be a good Blu-Ray drive for my computer?

Newegg has a St. Patty day sale.

I bought an LG Super Multi Blue Blou-ray & HD DVD Rom Drive GGC-H20L, there years ago, works great, but that model I think is out of date.

Check out other Blu-ray burners.

Compare a bunch here.

I'll also throw in a recommendation for an LG BD-Rom player. I bought the GGC-H20L a little over 2 years back at Newegg also. It's served me well, no problems with it at all.

Be sure to check the transfer speeds and get one with a high value. You can spot the cheapies because they're slow.

I just bought a LG CH10LS20 for less than $100 and it came bundled with PowerDVD 9 and other CyberLink software. I'm very pleased with it.

About external BD drives:

I'm ridiculously non-tech-savvy... If I connect an external BD-drive via USB 2.0 port, is the transfer speed good enough for BD movies? I'm a bit hesitant of getting an internal drive and trying to install it correctly...

If external drives are good with USB 2.0, any recommendations on those?

I have an external LG drive (LG BE06LU10) and it is definitely fast enough to handle movies via USB 2.0. It can also read data discs even faster than movies ever require, up to 6x normal speed.

I'm thinking of either the LG WH10LS30 or the LG CH10LS20...

Thanks for the info. I'm off to the external BD drive shop then in a day or two...

My LG BH08LS20 (built 06/2009) fritzed out two weeks ago.

Two years warranty, the LG service exchanged it with a very used looking drive from 12/2008, which works but which I do not trust at all.

So I bought a LG BH10LS30 (80 EUR), alternatives are scarce.
