| Posted: | | | | I live in BC as most of you know, and very seldom have reason to travel across the border.. but curious to know from my American friends here- the answers to these questions:
1. Do you still have and sell and advertise Leaded gas?
2. and if so ,, is leaded gas still cheaper than than non lead gas??
3. If you pay by cash is it cheaper than Credits cards? and does cash mean Debit Cards...
I ask these questions becasue in Canada we havn't had leaded gas for maybe 30 years .. and whether you pay by cash debit or CC the gas is always the same price ......
I'm still from the old school of measurements but todays gas is $1.36 for a litre what is that compared to in the US? for Imperial measurements? lets see 4.5 litres is 160 ounces and the US gallon is 128 ounces and our dollar is now 3.5 cents more than the Yankee buck.. .....and.. oh I'm all confused now .
but I hear that the gas in Blaine Washington works out to $.095 a litre ... so I guess you're laughing at $5.00 a gallon and we're crying at $1.36 x 4.5 at 32 ounces more etc etc ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | To my knowledge, the US has not sold leaded gas for years. I haven't seen any in years, at any rate. I think stores sell lead additives for the few engines still around that need leaded gas.
Most stations now charge the same regardless of payment method. There are a few that will give a discount for cash sales, but I don't think there are very many (only 1 in my area, that I'm aware of). There are still fees associated with processing debit card transactions, so I'd think any discounts would apply strictly to cash only.
Gas is priced and sold by the gallon in the US. Just be aware that all US gas is also priced out to three decimals, that is the price on the sign may say $3.85/gal but that's really $3.859/gal, so you're basically paying $3.86/gal. |

This will rise above $ 9 until Saturday and drop again on Tuesday. It's the same as every year: Easter-vacation -> gas price high. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | ARCO (AmPm) no longer accepts credit cards, but in addition to cash, they accept debit cards, and they run 10 to 15 cents per gallon less than many competitors. Some (not all) Chevron station offer a 9 to 15 cent/gallon discount for cash or using a Chevron/Texaco credit card. By the 1970s, American Oil was the first nationwide chain to completely eliminate leaded fuel. When I was racing and autocrossing, the AH Sprite (Mk II) I 'crossed had such high compression even Chevron white pump (101 octane then) would ping and pre-ignite, so we'd fill half the tank with 110/115 avgas (aviation fuel) before adding the white pump, then wiggle the car to get 105/110 octane than would burn clean and not knock. Back then, most racetrack had 101, 105, 110, 115, and various non-gasoline fuels (NitroMethane and others). | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Ask your Scottish friends you have. They will tell you you that Scotland in the towns, city's. Scotland has massive bus networks. In Edinburgh you walk out the door and your falling over buses. There like our subways there are ppl constantly using them every minute of the day. It's why fairs are so low. And Scottish company First is the biggest in Europe. | Posted: | | | | I think this went around before but with gas prices rising hourly I thought I'd keep it going.....maybe it will help
The price of Gas versus other Products. All these examples do NOT imply that gasoline is cheap; it just illustrates how outrageous some prices are.... You will be really shocked by the last one! (At least, I was...) Compared with Gasoline...... Think a gallon of gas is expensive?
This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective. Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 ... $10.32 per gallon Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ..........$9.52 per gallon Gatorade 20 oz $1.59 ..... $10.17 per gallon Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25 ......... $10.00 per gallon Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15 ...... $33.60 per gallon Vick's Nyquil 6 oz $8.35 ... $178.13 per gallon Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85 .. $123.20 per gallon Whiteout 7 oz $1.39 ....... ... $25.42 per gallon Scope 1.5 oz $0.99 .......$84.48 per gallon
And this is the REAL KICKER... Evian water 9 oz $1.49..$21.19 per gallon! $21.19 for WATER and the buyers don't even know the source (Evian spelled backwards is Naive.) And most don't know where that bottled water comes from and that is it generally not as safe as tap water.
Ever wonder why printers are so cheap? So they have you hooked for the ink. Someone calculated the cost of the ink at............... (you won't believe it....but it is true........) $5,200 a gal. (five thousand two hundred dollars) So, the next time you're at the pump,be glad your car doesn't run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!
Just a little humor to help ease the pain of your next trip to the pump... And - If you don't pass this along to at least one person, your muffler will fall off!! Okay, your muffler won't really fall off...but, you might run out of toilet paper. LOL.... | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. There are still multiple tiers, or grades, of gas sold, but they're all unleaded. Most stations have three options with varying octane ratings (and increasing prices). |

| Posted: | | | | Although I do believe some place do still leaded gasoline, other statements here show that it's not exactly something you will accidentally fill up with on your next visit to some random station.
Instead, our petroleum gas (at least down here) is being replaced with an ethanol-petroleum mix, stated it was done to save petroleum per gallon which is safer on the environment... but it drops your mileage such that you have to fill up more often, so the only change in the end is even more money being spent on gasoline to go the same distance. | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | The last place I saw leaded gas was in Boulder Colorado, and that was 20 years ago. In Saint Louis Gas prices are approximately 3.74/3.89./4.04 Regular/Mid Grade/Premium.
Our regular gasoline is mixed with 10% ethonol, and has been for a while (Gasoline oxygenator to reduce emissions). As the octane (Grade) increases, the less the ethanol mix.

| Posted: | | | | I live in NJ, we have a bunch of refineries here so typically gas is cheaper then much of the country... right now it is at a huge high... yesterday I paid $3.80 a gallon for regular unleaded... or converted, just over $1 per liter. This is the highest I have ever paid... I am 28 years old and have been driving for 11 years... the lowest, around 9 years ago I paid .79 a gallon or .21 a liter... and in my lifetime I have never seen leaded gas, in fact I remember being a child asking my parents why they called gas "unleaded"
As far as even pricing for debit/credit and cash typically gas stations consider debit and credit the same... and many do charge more for credit, usually about a 1%-2% premium... however you can find chains and aggressive independants willing to advertise and honor "same price cash or credit"... in addition, many credit cards here offer incentives for buying fuel... for example, my Discover card gives me 5% cash back on fuel, so for me, even if there is a 1-2% surcharge i'm ahead. | | | -JoN |
