This means you have to cut down more trees though to make the paper? That's not very environmentally friendly is it.

All milk here is sold in "paperboard" bottles. All apartment buildings and many single family houses have specific trash bins for these (and similar packages) so they can be recycled.



Those here too have an plastic (or some such) inner layer, its made of stuff that can still be recycled. Dont know the specifics of it though. I thought this was the case everywhere?

They've been closing paper mills here. So i'm sure were more then happy to fill any Britain's paper needs. We have more forests then Britain has land, so don't worry.

Thats the one used also here. I think its just a super slim layer of some plastic like substance.

The way i see the whole environmental climate change thing though not entirely convinced by climate change. We do need to switch to a more renewable based economy. This is where capitalism becomes a double edged sword.

While giving us much innovation which has in the last 60 years improved human life at least for a billion odd people, dramatically. I know this all to well from having a grandfather born in 1919 into poverty on a farm with 10 siblings, a lot of whom died very young. Who in 1943 after could have gotten out of the army because he had a vital job. Refused to and rejoined the 1st Gordon Highlanders Battalion part of the 51st Highland Division for D-Day and the liberation of Europe.

While he only said to my auntie it was cause he hated farming. We suspect it was more to do with how life was so s hit, that he would rather risk his life than going back to that. Or maybe he wanted to make sure his friends got back home and felt he let them down if he never.

Possibly a bit of both

Any way the point is we find the innovators of the past becoming protectionist and stifling the innovation of the future.

I get JD Country Milk, which is in Russellville Kentucky and has the only on-the-farm bottling operation in the state.  It's about 125 miles from where I live; they sell at the Whole Foods here.  Their milk is absolutely delicious - undoubtedly because not only is it organic, but it doesn't have to travel very far to get to the shelf here.  The bottle deposit just went up to $2.50, but I don't care.  The taste alone is worth it, even ignoring the eco outlook with buying local and reusing the bottles.
