Motorcycle Rider Lands in Back Seat Unhurt

How does the driver of the minivan not notice he suddenly has a passenger?

Really bizarre,

also strange that apparently he knew he had an accident, continued on his way and at home told his wife he needed to go back because of the accident!

Isn't that a crime/felony to leave the scene of an accident without having spoken to the police and dealt with insurance matters?

Depends on the incident.  If there is significant damage or injuries then leaving the scene can be significant.

For a fender bender it would be less of an issue and not worth the police's time.

The motorcycle rider also left the scene of the accident, so they are both at fault in this respect .
