| Posted: | | | | I prefer to reflect on history without the bias of emotion. So today is a day I will (unsuccessfully) attempt to avoid 9/11 news, coverage, documentaries, services, etc. Tomorrow will be a better day, just as the day after a funeral is a better day. I am at heart a pessimist, so I find great joy when I think of positive things rather than the evil reactions to an evil act. I enjoy imagining the possibility of the nobility of mankind rather than the sadness we can cause. We humans are one people, one race of beings who divide ourselves by forms of tribalism. "I protect me, I protect my family, I protect my community, I protect my nation," and as I do so, I insure no one's survival. I need to be a brother to all mankind.
Thank you for letting me vent my feelings.

I guess it depends on what you really want. The first and third are propaganda films...one leaning left, the other leaning right. 'World Trade Center' is probably your best bet as it tries to honor the victims. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. I haven't seen the third film, and the second film is an Oliver Stone 'Hollywood' styled movie/film...(fictionalized story script ),, BUT Michael Moore's film is ... Mostly TV footage along with direct interviews with the actual people who were there ... I don't see that as biased .. The entire 30 minutes opening of Fahrenheit 911 is all TV footage taken from every major News organizations that Moore culled and redited for time and he does tell a very convincing understanding of the Bush family and the Saudi's .. (and I roll my eyes every time when George W. tries to explain something ...) But I want to go on record right now and not turn this post into something that can get out of Hand real quick .. I'm just saying if you bought the DVD's ( for Pete) and never seen any of them and are asking directions for which one to see first . .at Least watch the first half hour of Moore's Documentary .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | Honestly, if I hadn't looked at the forum, I wouldn't have remembered what the date was.
My thoughts early this morning were "got to get up and eat breakfast and get stuff moved away from kitchen sink before plumber gets here." This was followed by "yay! plumber's here" and later by "time to start dinner in the crock pot" and "did the plumber fix the underpinning back? should I check on that?" and "did I input my reviews for my meeting on Tuesday?"
Having seen the post and gone, oh, yeah, it's Sept. 11, my thoughts are:
1) right-wing religious thought has sure created some nutbags - in Islam and every other religion (my mom's boss was just threatened by one Friday, who told him that God had healed him and that the operation her boss had done on him - to remove his melanoma - was unnecessary and he hated him for it and was going to kill him)
2) it is a terrible tragedy that so many people died because of the misguided beliefs of so few | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield | | | Last edited: by Danae Cassandra |

| Posted: | | | | That if only airport security at the time was not akin to a bus station, then 3000 life's would not have been lost that day. And then two pointless wars that resulted in more loss of life.
The fact is it don't matter who done it. Any one with an idealogical view that was anti American. Had a box cutter and some flight experience, could have done it.
For 10 years the finger of blame has been pointed at radical Islam. When in fact the finger of blame should have been pointed at government. Who failed massively at protecting it's ppl that day. | | | Last edited: by ShinyDiscGuy |

From what I have read, 'DC 9/11: Time of Crisis' seems to be the film that gives the right wing version. I am not aware of a film that gives a balanced account of the events following 9/11. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
