| Posted: | | | | Don't know if this has been done before. Movies that you come across channel-surfing that you have to finish watching no matter at what point the movie is at. Everyone has those two or three movies that they just enjoy so much that no matter how much they have missed, they will finish watching it.

Most James Bond and Star Trek movies have the same effect.

| Posted: | | | | .. and I always make sure ( after I have sat and watched a movie- I have, when found, from channel surfing) that I check off the option in Profiler that I watched the said movie on such and such a date,, and even check off the names in my family who watched it with me .. Because to me it doesn't matter if I own it on DVD or watched it on TBS or TCM .. It must be recorded that I did watch and kept a record of this history of that title in our house ..... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Sometimes i see a movie, i'll watch some of it, a commercial break comes on and i'll start something else. I don't watch much TV anyways, only football (soccer), some discussion programs about football, the news and an occasional TV series episode.
There are instances though when i see a movie on TV i'll than watch it on DVD/BD the same or next day.

Paul Similar, although a dvr has made commercials a thing of the past (except for watching sports live) so I don't surf so much anymore. Even with HD service, most channels crop the movies to 1.78 so anything I see ends up with the bd or dvd coming down and playing. Sometimes I'll throw in the dvd or bd to see how the cropping is, comparing it to the TV broadcast. I noticed that TBS is always very sped up in all parts, the dvd won't keep up even when unedited parts play. Now if something is playing in HD, in the correct ratio I will often just hit record on the dvr and watch the movie later. This is reserved for stuff I don't own, or have old non-anamorphic dvd of. | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |

| Posted: | | | | I'm with 8ballMax, except that I don't watch sports. My television is a delivery system attached to my DVD Player & my PS3. I have so much to watch, why bother to pay for cable or buy that silly box I have to have to pick up channels now? | | | If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. -- Thorin Oakenshield |

| Posted: | | | | I do not understand the attitude that having a TV and watching broadcast/cable shows is somehow less of a fine form of entertainment than watching a dvd. This late '50s attitude of "I keep my TV in the closet and bring it out only to watch educational TV" stunk then and it makes no sense today. One thread you're bragging about how many full seasons of TV shows you own on dvd, the next you say you never watch TV! I am proud to say I wave watched TV since the days of Ding Dong School (which was taken off the air to be replaced by Captain Kangaroo) and Mr. Peepers. I love how reality TV shows manipulate audiences the way a Hitchcock movie does. There are shows I get no enjoyment from, so I avoid watching them, but there are many entertaining shows on TV every day. I own dvds so I can revisit films and TV shows which are not currently on the air. I waken at 2 am and find a Criterion disc or The Best Years of Our Lives or some other favorite and enjoy an evening of insomnia. I watch TV as it airs, through my dvr and on dvd. I find movie theater experiences are no longer enjoyable, so I buy many recent films I watch once, because it is chaeaper and more pleasurable than going to a theater.
I will watch Shawshank Redemption, any Fred Astaire film, and many favorites on TCM whenever they air. | | | If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Personally I don't find anything on broadcast television that I'm willing to sacrifice 20 minutes of my life for in worthless television commercials for a one hour program. There's no "50s attitude" about it. I'd rather wait until my favorite show's latest season is released to DVD or Blu-ray and watch them commercial free at my leisure than have to sit through another commercial about sexual disfunction or what's the better maxi-pad...thank you very much . | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |
