| Posted: | | | | I had heard about Snow White and the Huntsman with Charlize Theron .., for June 2012 Release .. and Just now I was introduced to yet another Movie rendiiton for March 2012 with Julia Roberts callled Mirror Mirror ... Now am I getting long in the tooth to be confused on WHY Hollywood would do this to us old guys this late in life to redo Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs twice within 90 days with big stars and big Production Values ...... ?? Can't think of another example like this ....... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

Can't think of another example like this ....... Back in the late 90s, two different studios (Warner and Disney) did biopics about track runner Steve Prefontaine. One was made in Seattle, the other in Eugene, Oregon (where Prefontaine attended college). Neither one were particularly successful but they had decent casting. The one, called "Without Limits", was produced by Tom Cruise and starred Billy Crudup, Donald Sutherland and Monica Potter, the other, entitled "Prefontaine", starred Jared Leto, R. Lee Ermey and Ed O'Neill. Also, back in 1997, there were two disaster movies about volcanoes: "Volcano" and "Dante's Peak". And I also recall another one, but the titles escape me at the moment. |

| Posted: | | | | I agree with these four disaster films but the actual (Grimms? ) Snow White Fable story line is the puzzler here .. It's like the idea for making this story into Live action was making its way around Hollywood no one could decide on how to do this.. so it was awarded to two party's for production / distributon and with Major starts and a Big budget ..
anyone in the business here on Invelos who have an explanation..... ??
( there must be members here that are connected to the Film Industry ..... ) .. and who have knowledge of this new Release movie '' phenomenon '' ( without me making too much to do looking through Google searches etc ....
It's also very interesting how Hollywood these days have run out of ideas for anything fresh and new but just a continuous circle of Reruns and remakes ..... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| Posted: | | | | Maybe someone(s) is pissed off that Disney is trying to copyright the words "Snow White." After all, she's an old folklore character, not something Disney should be able to copyright. Now that one is easy to explain. With movies getting more and more expensive these days (50 Million US-$ is considered to be "Low-Budget"!) the risk for a complete loss of the invested money is rising. To minimize this risk, the studios are only placing safe-bets. This is quite a normal reaction, which in the case of movie making has the sad side-effect that innovative projects only scarcely make it into the production. It would be up to us consumers to stop this, but as long as there are people actually waiting for Transformers 25, SAW 108, The Omega Man Reloaded and others that are basically only cinematic junk-food, I have no real hope that this will ever happen. So lets all wait for AVATAR: We Are Back With Better Weapons and Even Less Qualms. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Now that trailers have been released for both Snow White films, I can say that I'm really looking forward to Snow White and the Huntsman while I have no real desire to see Mirror Mirror. They are completely different takes on the story. I think Charlize Theron's Queen is rather chilling while Julia Roberts is more laughable.
