The first question you're probably wondering is why don't I post this thread over at Youtube.., Well their forum is very hard to navigate to post exactly what I want to ask.., and that's all it is ..Just a couple of Questions that I cannot get a reasonable explanation for my plight. Please bear with me,, and offer what ever advice or news I need..
First OFF - I know all about the copy right for certain music and video's not being allowed for youtube .. I KNOW that .. But I still need to know the following:
1. Some early videos ( last year mid 2011/ back to 2005 ) I have had no problem uploading (i.e.) a home made vacation video with maybe some music track from any artist to accompany the video.. Until 'certain artists' ( won't name any) complained and my sound track was removed ..100% .. so I had to use another piece of music instead .. if the music has totally accepted no problem., if it was marginally accepted I got a 'matched third party content' listed next to it along with an ad for itune s to buy that music.. fair enough .. Then I found that if there was say 10 uploads for i.e. The Chariot Race from Ben Hur already on Youtube all with various run times and video quality.., if I uploaded the SAME video sequence from the famous race .. It was immediately flagged and removed and I was then given a test to complete to understand the copyright issues .. once the test was completed I was then given the green light to remove the video.. If I failed to do so my account would be shut down..
fair enough.. But what about the other 10 videos? they are allowed to stay? and why? I know that yuoutube receives 8 hours of video every minute.. so the filters have been upgraded only for the new stuff coming in today and not to filter the old stuff that is currently on view ..
There are even entire Movies that are uploaded in 10 parts ( part 1 par t2 part 3 etc) and they are posted and not given match content messages ..
Yesterday a lady friend of mine- who's daughter was killed by a drunk driver- had a 5 minutes
tribute DVD video of a montage of pictures from her life along with a 'nice' piece of music from a country western performer singing a fairly recent top forty love song... she asked if I could help get it onto facebook . .I agreed BUT it turns out that Facebook must be in the same situation as Youtube and
viciously announced back to me that
IF I ever do this again my facebook account would be
flagged and removed .. So I thought OK let's try put it on Youtube .. Uploaded and was partially accepted ,as I now got the 'matched third party' content warning.. feeling frustrated .. I decided to see how many other tribute videos was on board here at Youtube and I found the EXACT same video /same transfer/ of the same content,
but from 10 months ago.. some other family member had obvisously uploaded this before me and maybe the mother knew or didn't know but she asked me to post the same in Facebook.. I then immediately removed my uploaded video.. and used the link of the previous same content and used that link instead over at Facebook ... solved..!
So Question That Youtube Forum is afraid to post/ask:
WHY (apart from the copy right issues) Why has the last few months been so different over the past few Years. . Is it ..this whole
Sopa business that wiki was boycotting last week..?
Can you imagine for a moment
if all
copyright stuff on youtube was removed?? .. including music and video????... No one would frequent the site as often..
You want to see Arlo Guthrie doing his ''comin into Los Angeles ( bringing in a couple of keys) on Youtube?? it's there .. but if you try and repeat the process today it gets flagged ...
what I can't seem to understand is If I missed last nights David Letterman show .. or i can't view the Superbowl Ads in Canada.. , I can always rely on Youtube.,, How is it these get uploaded and accepted but my innocent scenarios don't???? .. They are all copyright? is there something I don;t have or need.. like a paid subscription..???
