My AV* amp has broken!      It’s had to go away to the 'amplifier hospital' to be made better.    The guarantee ran out 13 days ago; (but they’re going to fix it for free anyway, which is pretty decent I guess.) 

However, this has put me in such a foul mood        that I’ve just voted NO* to two contributions for something I want to watch RIGHT NOW but can’t.  (Star Trek Next Generation on Blu-ray.)

What am I going to do with myself for the next few weeks?  No DVDs.    No music.    No anything. 

I just needed to share my pain with others who might understand, as I got scant sympathy at work today. 

*It’s an Onyko TX-NR807.  (I’ll never remember where all those wires were plugged in when it comes back either.  )

**I must stress that there are valid reasons for doing so, I’m not actually doing it just for badness! 

PS  I'm quite proud of my "Profilerites".  Is that the correct word to use for a group of DVD Profile users?

I feel your pain. Our three front speakers have been back at the factory for two weeks now, while their communications boards are fixed. I am expecting a four figure bill! Fortunately I was able to cannibalise speakers for our various audios systems, so at least we can watch movies.

It’s been a WHOLE week now!             

Thank you all for the support and suggestions as to how I could make ‘alternative arrangements’.  It’s true, I could probably just plug things in differently and get something perfectly serviceable, but I just can’t bring myself to do it.  I also have a ‘special’ and rather silly way of picking out which DVD to watch, (which I virtually always pick at random using this ‘special’ method); what if I selected an all-action, state-of-the-art, Blu-ray blockbuster?  It would be a nightmare; deciding to reject the latter until I could watch it ‘properly’ would represent an almost constitutional crisis of international scope!

I’ve noticed that my current predicament has had a number of unplanned effects on my life.  Here are ten of them:

I’ve worked a lot of hours at work; (no point going home really...). 

I’ve not drunk anything; (no glasses of wine or pints of beer for me whilst watching movies). 

I’ve listened to a stupidly large amount of German ska music; (Internet radio is good)! 

I’ve got a sore neck; (from sitting doing things on the computer too much). 

I have an increasingly needy cat; (who’s desperate to sit on my lap anyway she can). 

My electricity consumption has noticeably dropped; (not power greedy electronics to run). 

My purchasing of DVDs has gone up; (well at least I can read the sleeves). 

The DVD cases on the shelves are all really neat and tidy: (well at least I can touch them). 

I have nothing to write on my Facebook profile; (dear me, I must lead a pointless existence). 

I’m actually looking forward to contributing some profiles, for the third time, even though this uses up a lot of time and involves a lot of fiddly editing of the details; (they keep getting rejected because of some silliness involving unaired episodes). 

I'm told that our speakers will be back from Huntingdon this week....all I have to do is sign a cheque for £1180........
