| Posted: | | | | Is it possible for me to merge two collections. We have one dvdprofiler in hubbys name and I have my own now.
Since I see no reason for reentering the about 2200 dvd s and blu-rays we have, I would like to "steal" my husbonds collection.
How can I do this? |

Back-up both databases. Go to file, select open database. Make new database from here, and then go to file again and restore both databases from your back up.
It might only reload one though so just an idea. | | | Last edited: by samuelrichardscott |

But pay special attention to "If more than one of the source databases contain the same profile, the last one restored will overwrite the other." The technical term for this is "marriage" if I'm not mistaken. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |

| Posted: | | | | Hmmm - I was just wondering.
What if I log on as the other account and simply download the collection from there?
Then if the other user wants my collection - when I have added more dvd's, he can do the same on his computer? Could that work? |

If you download from the online db it will overwrite your present one, not merge with it. The way to merge them is to follow the instructions pointed to in Mithi's post... it's not difficult; just a couple of backups (and one of those is in case things go wrong) and a restore using the right restore settings. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

I suppose, but you need to open a new database first or else you will overwrite your own collection. Of course, if you simply want to add more DVDs it will work but you don't really need two accounts for that. It would be the same as accessing the database from two different computers. Just make sure you're not both making changes to the online at the same time. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
