| Posted: | | | | Do you rely on the online db? I don't and here is the reason:
For kicks and I'm glad I don't have to depend on it. I created a blank db, and did a restore from the online db. The results, Tada:
What Invelos says on the online db This agrees with my real (PC's) db. Total Enties 17957 Owned 17618 Ordered 34 Wish List 14 Misc 417
What I got back 1st restore Total Entires 6230 Owned 6190 Ordered 0 Wish List 0 Misc 40
2nd restore Total Entires 6230 Owned 6190 Ordered 0 Wish List 0 Misc 40 | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | Had you done a recent upload? The online DB won't contain custom images, but otherwise has your data. |

| Posted: | | | | Did the missing profiles have anything in common? Do they show up if you look at you collection online? It's worked fine for me in the past. IIRC, I lost some disc-ID profiles from the old Intervocative version, but that's it. |

| Posted: | | | | Used to have my HTPC uploading from the online. Had all the profiles. Do you have 11,727 profiles fully locked? I found that locks and uploading from the online didnt compute well. It uploads the locks, but doesnt download the data. If i remember right. |

| Posted: | | | | The missing profiles weren't manual profiles by any chance? | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Manuals, not that many, I use manual profiles, (no UPC available) for pre-orders and a means to keep certain sets of profiles together: example James Bond, Dark Shadows, Star Trek, etc.
I don't use collection numbers for child profiles, that is a common practice for a lot of us that large TV series collection. What do you need a collection number fir each of DVDs that come in a box, you number the box.
Locked. Are you kidding, with the state of online db with people changing the covers, SRP, release date, etc. I lock everything. If that was the case then I should not have restored anything.
I have been using the program since 2000. But I haven't tried a restore in years when I only had a few thousand DVDs. I was waiting on something to finish cooking so thought I'd try it for kicks. I keep two copies of a daily backup and a prior backup on 2T My Book external drives. One is set to backup the main drive. I also keep a copy of the some 9,000 tunes mostly jazz an documents.
I have to much personal data that is not sent to the online db. I keep the order date and order number and extra data in the note section. I use a lot of tags, example for TV to indicate series, mini-series, music, movie, completed series, etc. Tags for the music genre, classical, pop, opera, etc. Tags fro the box set level: Child, level 1, level 2. Level 2 is used for a series/sets within a box set complete series.
I would not even be collecting these GD DVDs, if the state of this country was as it was as it was a few decades ago. In 1967, when I came back to Arizona from supervising the installation and acceptance of the computer that captured the Apollo test and lift-off data I got rid of my 1966 Sting Ray and got a Jeep. Fixed it up so I could go just about anywhere. Hell I once drove across the Verde River, that was a dumb move and I was lucky that I didn't lose it. I could set-up camp and hike the say the Grand Canyon, Zion or other areas of the Southwest. Come back to camp and nobody bothered anything, today if you crap in a sack they'll seal it and I'm just to old to kick anybody's ass.
They done tests on kids in school today and they think the world owes them everything. I'm sorry baby, as Loretta Lynn once sang something about promising a rose garden. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it. | Posted: | | | | I just downloaded my collection into a new, empty database and compared the two XML outputs. I basically looks fine, the timestamps are different and the online has a few more birth years even though I have all my cast & crew locked.
But no missing profiles. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Could it be the download timed out? Like theres a max time or something. I mean you're collection isn't small by any means. Probably a bug, your collection is too big for the online db I'd ask Ken or maybe theres someone else with a DVD warehouse that could test it out? |

| Posted: | | | | I use profiler on two PC's. My stand alone XP Pro is the my 'Main Frame' for saving/updating and restoring the .dbp from another hard drive for Backup. (if need be). and in uploading my library to 'on line' gives Invelos a chance to compare what I have and what I need to vote on.,, Iin uploading this library to Invelos I then turn around and will download it to my Laptop Windows 7, and replace the existing library with my on line library .. The only area that I need to tweak are any photo shopped scans . and this I get from my .dpb onto a flash drive and will periodically update this (second) library with the master library . The Online data is pretty good even when it comes to purchase dates and 'watched' dates as well as notes. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. I'd ask Ken or maybe theres someone else with a DVD warehouse that could test it out? I think you're right. Years ago before I got a high speed link I had to upload about three times to get every thing loaded because of time outs. I only put a copy up there because peoploe ask for it. | | | We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own. Ineptocracy, You got to love it.
