San Fransisco Chronicle

and

New York Times:

Carroll Shelby, muscle car designer, dies at 89.

I was attending classes on the UNIVAC 1107 in Ilion NY and was lucky enough to catch the June 30th 1963 - the Shelby's stomp the Corvettes and Ferrari's as Dave MacDonald and Shelby American roll into Watkins Glen New York for the Manufacturers' Championships. Ever since I've coveted a Shelby car.

Many decades ago I attended his driving school (at Riverside raceway) to get my competition license. One evening he taught me (and a few others) how he made chili, and included the beans he liked in his eating (not competition) chili. You can find my version of what he taught me here.

I will miss him personally.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

A testament to the innovation and fortitude that the US of A was built on. RIP Mr. Shelby. You'll be sorely missed.

was that Car above the same type as described in this Bit from 1968 ??

In 1967, Bill Cosby bought a Shelby Cobra Super Snake CSX 3303 from his friend, company founder Carroll Shelby. The CSX 3303 was one of two Super Snakes built, which is a modified 1965 Cobra Competition roadster retained by Shelby American as a PR car and then modified with the addition of two superchargers and a Ford C-6 automatic gearbox.[1] Of the two cars built, one was retained by Shelby and the other was sold to Cosby. The album title, 200 M.P.H., refers to the car's top speed, which unnerved Cosby so much that he only drove it once before returning it. Shelby American sold it to S and C Motors in San Francisco, who then sold it to their customer, Tony Maxey. Maxey destroyed the CSX 3303 by driving over a cliff and into the Pacific Ocean. Maxey himself died a few days later. Brian Angliss purchased the vehicle and subsequently restored it
