| Posted: | | | | Celebrity of the Week MarathonSandra BullockSandra Bullock (born July 26, 1964) is an American actress and producer who rose to fame in the 1990s after roles in successful films such as Demolition Man, Speed, The Net, A Time to Kill, and While You Were Sleeping. In the new millennium, she appeared in such films as Miss Congeniality, The Lake House, and Crash, the third of which received critical acclaim. In 2007, she was ranked as the 14th richest female celebrity with an estimated fortune of US$85 million. In 2009, Bullock starred in two of the more financially successful films of her career, The Proposal and The Blind Side. Bullock was awarded a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress, a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role, and the Academy Award for Best Actress, for her role as Leigh Anne Tuohy in The Blind Side. She is listed in the 2012 edition of the Guinness Book Of World Records as the highest-paid actress, with $56 million.
This marathon will be running from Monday the 23rd through Sunday the 29th. The idea behind this marathon is that I will ATTEMPT to watch at least 1 movie per day for an entire week with the chosen celebrity. I picked Sandra Bullock for this week's marathon for two reasons. She is a long time favorite actress of mine... and this coming Thursday (the 26th) is her birthday. I have attempted this type of marathon more then once before... with very little success. But I am hoping this week's attempt will be successful. My Sandra Bullock Collection:Titles in bold are movies I never watched before.- 28 Days - Bionic Showdown - The Blind Side - Crash- Demolition Man - Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood - Force of Nature - Hangmen- Infamous- The Lake House - Love Potion #9 - Miss Congeniality - Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous - Murder By Numbers - The Net - Practical Magic - Premonition - The Proposal - Speed - Speed 2: Cruise Control - A Time to Kill - Two Week Notice - The Vanishing - While You Were Sleeping - Who Shot PatIt would be nice if I could get all 25 movies I own with her watched within the next week... but that is highly unlikely! But hopefully I will get a nice amount watched before this time next week. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Infamous was bloody fantastic. It's a shame it was delayed for almost a year before it's theatrical release, allowing the much more successful Capote to be released first and reap the critical acclaim, leaving Infamous far far behind, when Infamous is probably about 30x the film that Capote is. Despite her limited screen time in the film, up until that point, it was by far, in my opinion, Sandra Bullock's strongest performance. I actually believe, that had it been released before Capote, she might have snatched an Oscar nomination for her performance (Supporting) in it.
My 10 favorite Sandra Bullock films:
The Blind Side 28 Days Crash Miss Congeniality A Time to Kill Speed The Proposal The Thing Called Love Infamous The Net
I'm also painfully excited for both of her new upcoming films, Gravity (directed by the brilliant Alfonso Cuarón) and The Heat (starring opposite the hilarious Melissa McCarthy). I'm loving her career since the successes of The Proposal and The Blind Side in 2009. Even the disappointing Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close contained one of the best performances she's put on screen to date. | | | The night is calling. And it whispers to me soflty come and play. |

In the gray area between black and white, victim and aggressor, during the next 36 hours, they will all collide. Extras:Scene Access Audio Commentary Bonus Trailers Featurettes Music Videos Closed Captioned Introduction by Paul Haggis My Thoughts: This is a movie a friend gave me a couple years ago. It is one I never even heard of before. Matter of fact... I never even saw the trailer for this movie before this morning. After watching it... I really don't know what I think of this one. I didn't hate it... but at the same time it didn't even come close to blowing me away. I found it to be on a bit of the slow side for my taste.... but at the same time I found the storyline to be interesting. I would have liked to see Sandra Bullock's part to be a bit bigger. Over-all I guess I would say it is a pretty good watch... but it isn't something that will be in any favorites lists. I can see myself watching this one again... but not often. Basically just an average film in my opinion. My Rating: Out of a Possible Five

| Posted: | | | | Title: Bionic ShowdownYear: 1989 Director: Alan J. Levi Writer: Michael Sloan (Screenwriter), Brock Choy (Screenwriter) Rating: NR Length: 92 Min. Video: Full Frame 1.33:1 Audio: English: Dolby Digital: 2-Channel Stereo Subtitles: None Stars:Lindsay Wagner as Jaime Sommers Lee Majors as Col. Steve Austin Richard Anderson as Oscar Goldman Sandra Bullock as Kate Mason Jeff Yagher as Jim Goldman Martin E. Brooks as Dr. Rudy Wells Plot:A bionic spy steals top-secret information from the Pentagon and Steve Austin and Jaime Sommers are put under suspicion. Meanwhile, Dr. Rudy Wells completes his latest Bionic project Kate Mason (Sandra Bullock), a former paraplegic who receives cybernetic implants that make her the strongest fastest woman alive. When Oscar Goldman is kidnapped by enemy agents, it's up to Jaime, Steve and Kate to save him and stop the Bionic spy from causing an international incident at the World Unity Games. Extras:Scene Access My Thoughts: This is a DVD I made off of an old home recording... so unfortunately while watchable... the video left a little to be desired. In this TV movie Sandra Bullock plays Kate... the newest Bionic Woman. Of course at the time this was made I had no idea who Sandra Bullock was. But I do remember that even then I was impressed with her. I have been a fan of both The Six Million Dollar Man and The Bionic Woman since they originally aired. So I really enjoyed every moment of this reunion movie. Matter of fact it is actually my favorite of all the bionic reunion movies. One I have watched many times already since making my DVD last year. My Rating: Out of a Possible Five

KEANU REEVES stars as Jack Traven, an L.A.P.D. SWAT team specialist who is sent to diffuse a bomb that a revenge driven extortionist (DENNIS HOPPER) has planted on a bus. But until he does, Jack and one of the passengers (SANDRA BULLOCK) must keep the bus speeding through the streets of Los Angeles at more than 50 miles per hour — or the bomb will explode. A high-octane chase of suspense, nonstop action and surprise twists, SPEED is a joyride sure to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. Extras:Scene Access Audio Commentary Closed Captioned THX My Thoughts: This is the first time I watched this movie in about 3 years. And I must say I really enjoyed watching it again. It is filled with lots of great action. My favorite character has to be Annie (Sandra Bullock) of course!... but after her I liked Keanu Reeves. I think both of them did an excellent job. This is definitely one I would recommend. My Rating: Out of a Possible Five

Lenkov (Story By), Robert Reneau (Story By), Daniel Waters (Screenwriter), Robert Reneau (Screenwriter), Peter M. Lenkov (Screenwriter) Rating: Rated R : Nonstop Action, Violence and Strong Language Length: 115 Min. In 2032 archcriminal Simon Phoenix (Snipes) awakens from a 35-year deep freeze in CryoPrison to find a serene, non-violent Los Angeles ready for the taking. Unable to deal with Phoenix's brutal 1990s style, officials seek an old-fashioned cop to fight old-fashioned crime. They revive Sgt. John Spartan (Stallone), unjustly serving a CryoPrison sentence because of his last encounter with Phoenix. Sandra Bullock and Benjamin Bratt (TV's Law and Order) also uphold the law in this "terrific mix of action and humor" (Joel Siegel, Good Morning America/ABC-TV). Extras:Scene Access Audio Commentary Feature Trailers Production Notes Closed Captioned My Thoughts: To me this is just a fun movie... it is a good mixture of comedy (almost to the point of being silly) and action. A movie I have enjoyed watching countless times. Sure it is far fetched... pretty much have to suspend believability... but I think as long as you can do that you can definitely enjoy this movie. I thought Sandra Bullock was hilarious in this movie,,, but of course Stallone and Snipes were also good. It is one I would recommend. My Rating: Out of a Possible Five
