Living in Texas all my life, and living in Dallas for over 49 years I lost an old friend  and Icon today.

Big Tex the TALL centerpiece of the State Fair of Texas caught fire and burned down today.

I've known the voices of Big Tex since I was in my late teens, (one man Jim Lowe first introduced mt to old time radio & the Abbott and Costello "Who's On First" on his nightly old time comedy radio show.)

I know he'll be back next year, but he will not be the 'Tex I knew.

I read, and was sorry to hear about that today.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
