I went to the theater with my girlfriend and her high school buddy to see Lincoln, but I got them last ticket, leaving them standing in the lobby, so I came back and we had to pick something else. She didn't want to see Killing Them Softly and that left us with Red Dawn as the only viable choice. It was about as good as you'd expect. By the time it got out, the pawn shops were closed, so I couldn't go buy guns in case the Koreans invade.

Fun fact...or maybe not so fun fact...when the movie was originally filmed, in 2009, the invaders were the Chinese.  In an effort to give the film greater box office appeal in China, which has become one of the most profitable markets for American movies, the film was digitally altered.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

I got the impression the writers were upset about this as characters commented throughout the film that it made no sense for North Korea to invade the US.

Maybe, when the inevitable Chinese bootlegs come out, the Chinese will be the bad guys again!  Maybe a Director's Cut in a few years? Anyone? Anyone? If Lucas can digitally alter his movies, can't the Red Dawn 2012 people?
My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT.
FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that.
Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it!

I don't mind overlooking minor stupidity and logic flaws in my entertainment, but this idea that NK has both the resources and wherewithal to invade a continent 8000 miles away is only slightly less ludicrous than the U.S. being invaded by...I don't know...the Swiss.

I can only assume that the producers are counting the generational geographic and socio-economic ignorance of their target audience to pull this laugher off.

The producers had China invade the US but, because China has become a huge market for American films, the studio decided to digitally alter the insignias.  Since they couldn't change the ethnicity of the soldiers, they had to go with an asian country.  I guess NK was the only choice.
