| | Posted: | | | | I've noticed over the past several months that I have to run the repair doobrie every time before I can do a back up of my collection. Is this normal? Has everything become more fragile in recent months or is it due to collections size (c. 3000+)??? New computer, latest release and all that.
Not a problem, it works, just takes time is all.

| | Posted: | | | | Thanks, can do, but there again, if "checking" finds faults that need repair every time... why? Not "checking" for faults (by un-ticking the box as you suggest) doesn't make the "faults" disappear does it?
Or are there no faults in reality?

Then again it's possible there are regularly small faults in the data of unlooked at profiles that go by unnoticed (or have no noticible effect) and just get 'sorted out' when there's a big fault that you *do* notice and run a Database Repair abd the checker finds these.
I doubt it means there are more faults than there used to be, at worst it's that the program now can check for them so it is being brought to our attention. | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

Maybe 50/50 adapted previous (usually US) postings/start from scratch (for those UK/European movies we get before US). Plus weekly updates from Invelos of course. Sorry if this is a stupid question but you have unticked the "Check Database Files Before Backup" option on the first 'Backup' window as per Blair's post? This perfectly happily runs the backup without repair for me... as we've been discussing it may be the checking finds faults which either aren't faults or are technically faults but they wouldn't affect anything even if un-repaired. | | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

I backup without running a repair almost every day.
--------------- You can run backup everyday without the repair notice coming up IF you unchecked the box first .. this forum post is commenting on the fact that if that box is ticked it will most always come back that it failed to backup due to the database being "problematic" and needs to be repaired/ fixed.. Yesterday I forgot to uncheck,, then I did the database fix . then two hours later after some changes and adds it had to be fixed again ... therefore this 'new' add on is problematic for quite a few of us or not .. ? that is what tcremote was posting about . | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird.
