who ever did it will get justice

It was a cowardly act, regardless of the method, performed by someone or some group with serious mental problems. The people that perform these acts seem to be obsessed by a hate. Any rational individual would know that such acts of this type solve nothing.

But doesn't appear to be by one of usual groups that issue warning and/or takes credit.

With all the information and methods readily available via the internet, it seems these acts are becoming more and more frequent, not targeting any specific individuals. I don't know what can be done to stop it, but I am sure politicians and their ilk will all have a solution just as ill conceived as these acts.

Looking over my 79 years, acts like this were aimed at a specific individuals or organizations, (mobs vs. mobs, unions against companies). Maybe it is because organizations have become more and more faceless, unlike your stereotypical western where the bad guys wear black hats and the good guys wear white hats.

Anyone watching the news over a few past decades knows hatred, not merely dislike, has become more prevalent. The average individual seems powerless against the actions of corporations or government who are concerned with their own agenda and the public be damned.

I notice more and more people my age seem almost glad they are not going to be around much longer.
I know that I feel that way when I see the latest act against mother earth because some corporation is more concerned with the bottom line than with ramifications of their actions.

I received a few comments in the past day as to why I left the tragedy in Boston unmentioned on Facebook, Twitter, and various forums. I chose to relate stories of my life and the lives of others I knew who were living normally, rather than reacting to the story filling the news.

I finally chose to write what I felt, rather than of the joys of the church school play I directed Sunday or the fun I had leading audience members in a practice of an ukulele tune to play along with the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain and then getting to meet and chat with the members of UOGB.

Here's what I wrote:

One of the defining moments of being human is that childhood realization that other people have feelings, their own thoughts and attitudes, and live separate lives than you. Suddenly you are no longer the center of the universe but merely a speck in the sands of an infinite beach.

Every now and then I revert to my pre-awareness childhood naivete. The story of the universe is created by me. And the story is tragic. This is when I need to become aware again that I am not the center, that I often observe and not instigate. Evil acts occur without me causing them. My story is not always mine to tell. I’ve never been to Boston, except in my imagination.

Someone is attempting to instill fear in addition to maiming and killing people. I can sympathize with loss without becoming fearful. Fear is good when it stops us from drunken stupidity which harm ourselves and others. But we cannot fear life: streets must be crossed, love must be attempted, new thoughts imagined. These carry a risk: the street can risky, hearts can be broken, new ideas can gather ridicule. I choose to live boldly. I shall cross a street using reasonable caution. I shall love whom I choose. I shall dare the previously unimaginined.

I once learned there are only two dramas: comedy and tragedy. In tragedy, the protagonist dies from a fatal flaw. In comedy the story ends with marriage. I want my life to be a comedy, but it remains fully dramatic. And I only get to write what I do, and not what others do. I cannot choose for anyone else.
