It doesn't really surprise me much. There's numerous websites out there that sell obvious bootleg DVD TV seasons and such like this.

I'm amazed that more of them aren't busted though.

I hope they catch all of them. The industry doesn't need to increase prices any further to offset the illegal sales. But at least that's one of the big ones gone.

I wish all the films the studios have no intention of releasing on DvD, or re-releasing in cinemas (from the 30's and 40's mostly). Put copy's of them out on the internet. Obviously there worthless to them, if there is not enough demand for them to make a profit.

Let all those who are interested in them have the chance to see them.

If you try to buy Star Trek TNG complete DVD set on Amazon right now, their is a >50% chance you will get an inferior Chinese bootleg set, and Amazon doesn't seem to be doing anything about it.

Very sad.

You have received bootlegs as a result of a direct sale from Amazon?

I seriously doubt that if it's direct from Amazon themselves. i.e. "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com."

Now sellers in the marketplace, that's a different story...

I haven't but I know many who did. The problem is Amazon's system often shifts between themsevles and other "Amazon Prime" sellers who maintain inventory at Amazon's warehouses. It will sometimes shift *after* the order is placed.

This has been ongoing for years now. The knock off discs are dual layer -> single layer compressed and are crap quality, although the packaging looks good.

What I mean by "Shift":

Here is the product link: http://www.amazon.com/Star-Trek-Generation-Complete-Series/dp/B000RZIGVS/ref=cm_rdp_product

Last week this link returned "Ships and sold by Amazon." Yesterday it was "Warehouse Deals." Today it's "BooksforMissions". It seems to rotate through Amazon Prime vendors. Personally, I've had the vendor change AFTER I placed the order (not on this particular item though); in other words, I ordered from Amazon, then when I checked the order after placing it, it still shows as Amazon Prime, but shipped from a third party vendor.

It never shifts after purchase - if you buy direct from amazon your good. If the product page doesn't default to "shipped and sold by amazon" you can find that option in the "available from these sellers" link

Yeah, this. I order from Amazon all the time and have Prime. As long as you make sure it says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" when you place the order, it comes direct from Amazon. They don't simply grab alternate stock from Marketplace sellers who sell their products from Amazon warehouses.

I think what Grendell means is that sometimes the main item page alternates between Amazon and Marketplace "Prime" sellers who stock their products in Amazon's warehouses.

Those are still considered "Marketplace" sellers however, and will always show up something like this on the main item page:

"Sold by WorldMusicUK and Fulfilled by Amazon."

Just make sure you buy stuff that specifically says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com." Sometimes you have to pick the seller to be positive it's Amazon, like here:

You would pick the one that says "Amazon.com" at the top to be sure it comes direct from Amazon as brand new authentic stock. The one below it is a "Marketplace" seller that have sent their stock to Amazon so they can fulfill it by Prime shipments. But they are still a Marketplace seller, and the stock is different from Amazon's main product stock.

iOffer is one of the worst sites for bootlegged TV series (though I have seen several on eBay) People just assume the legitimacy of products, and saying that the product is from China, I'm sure causes some people to reason, "Well that explains why I've never seen it in stores here before."

I have placed an order before, that I am certain said "Ships and sold by Amazon," then after checking the order status, saw that it changed to a seller. It was an Amazon Prime item, and the seller was also Amazon Prime. Unless you're somehow implying I'm lying... to which I would reply, what reason would I have to make that up?

I recently bought a copy of the US release of Les Miserables on Blu.

What arrived was an obvious copy.

I reported it to Amazon who refunded the value. Then we reported it to Universal and the police.

That person's selling account has now been closed and Universal have assured us that they will investigate this.
