Windows 8.1, no problems running the profiler yet.
Anybody else running 8.1?

I've got to say the upgrade path from 7 to 8 and now 8.1 has been one of the most painless experiences I've ever had with windows.

The upgrade adviser is full of rubbish though, claims quite a few programs aren't compatible that actually work without a problem.

I tried to upgrade but...

First, my laptop (Asus) migrated cleanly from W7 to W8 and then from W8 to W8.1'Friday. No sweat there -- just time. But I still have to try DVDp on that one for correctly functioning.

Second, my desktop PC makes the W8.1 upgrade present problems. It upgraded through the years flawlessly from Vista to W7 and to W8. But the upgrade to W8.1 failed (BSOD screen with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, error code 0xC1900101-0x4000D). Around the internet, included the MS support community, a number of solutions are floating around but not one worked so far. I'm not alone, sob...    Apparently, this is a (hardcore) driver issue somewhere.

In all, waiting for MS to clean up. W8.1 was supposed to be a simple user interface improvement --though you still need Classic Shell and 8GadgetPackSetUp if you do not want to lose functionality over W7 --, but behind the screens someone put in massive driver ugrades of some sort...

As soon a solution appears, I'll be happy to report on DVDp on my main machine. You are now warned though that the upgrade may not be as smooth a ride as some think of what MS suggests...

EDIT/ADDENDUM: For those who are on W7, Vista or still older and are now considering the jump to Win 8(.1) with the "improvements" of the 8,1 release, for completeness sake, there is another loss of functionality. You'll lose the Games section (Minesweeper, Hearts, ...) that you hated/loved from W3, W95 right through to W7. MS may have introduced similar games in Metro style, but you'll lose the W7 style games and your treasured scores (whatever they are). There is a solution floating around the net, but since it depends on hijacked/patched W7 executables, it is hard to find and legally questionable. FWIW

I just got myself a Haswell, based on the PC proposal from c't 19/2013, and Windows 8.1 64 bit system builder, but did not have time yet to bring the PC into service.

Got a while ago, a Samsung Slate. Came with Windows 8, which was crap, so upgraded to Windows 7.
Ran fine but a little sluggish.
Then tried 8.1 and found that it behaved like a while new beast, very fast and responsive.

I am writing a program to view the DVD Pro XML data in a 'Metro' style package. Shame not to use the touch screen as was meant to be used.

I just got an new laptop with 8.1....no problems yet

Because underneath it's a decent OS and it takes 5 minutes to work around any issues with the surface appearance.
