Hard to believe that 30 years has now passed on this  Iconic Classic Christmas Movie . that still finds New Audiences  every Year ...  It also play in my house right after A Christmas Carol .
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

As many times as I watched this growing up, my parents and I were at my brothers (as we often do for one day during the Christmas season) a couple of years ago.

The show came on cable (with commercials,) and it was then that we both learned neither of our parents had ever watched the movie   So, we sat down to all watch it with his baby in tow, and we got through about an hour of airtime when something pulled us away.

So, my parents still have never seen it!

I'm actually reading the book A Christmas Story: Behind the Scenes of a Holiday Classic currently.

It's great fun, with tons of rare photos and a wealth of obscure information about every facet of the film and its history.

It's almost horrifying reading about all the deleted footage that was shot and didn't make it into the film. According to Bob Clark (R.I.P.), the footage was all lost...unsaved by MGM. The only chance of it being seen was perhaps in a time capsule containing the "Director's Cut" on BETA tape, buried in the schoolyard of the school used in the film. But apparently that was also "lost" when the capsule was unearthed and moved to a new school, etc..

I'm not sure why Amazon has it listed at 336 pages though. It's just a little over 200 including the prefaces.

I checked the reviews with idea of replacing my copy with Blu_ray. But from reading the comments they haven't done much restoring it for Blu_ray. My copy is about 10 years old.
You would think as popular as this movie is that would give the full treatment.
We don't need stinkin' IMDB's errors, we make our own.

I can't stand Warner. They crap on movies (and franchises) like there's no tomorrow. They re-release everything that doesn't even need re-releasing, while there are still tons of films that haven't even had a debut Blu-ray release. And now they also have that utterly perplexing (and hypocritical) "No Unrated!" policy for new releases.

The new SteelBook Blu-ray upgrades to lossless audio, a digital copy, and adds one new bonus feature and a couple of bonus features that were missing on the previous Blu-ray. The transfer and VC-1 encode are exactly the same as the old Blu-ray. That was their big 30th Anniversary reissue.

I never trust page numbers on Amazon. I use Collectorz for books and they take their information from Amazon and it's always wrong. When I first inputted my whole collection, I had maybe 3 books I didn't have to fix the page numbers on.

And to keep it semi-topic, I have to admit, this is not my favorite movie. It's ok, but I really am not a huge fan of it. I saw it last year and that will do me for many years to come! Granted, I do still quote it, "You'll poke your eye out with that thing!" but that's about it.

My favorite Christmas movie is Miracle on 34th Street.
